With the ending of Oshi no Ko, 2024 has officially become the year of the worst manga finales. Both Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia ended recently, but a majority of fans were not happy with either of the conclusions.

But while My Hero Academia and Oshi no Ko can be forgiven for their final chapters, Gege Akutami is still public enemy No. 1. If you are an avid follower of Jujutsu Kaisen, you would know exactly why the fandom is out for the author’s blood.

According to sources, the final volume of Oshi no Ko, which is volume 16, will include 24 additional pages. The 16th volume will be released on December 18, 2024. Despite the somewhat disappointing ending of the series, at least Aka Akasaka has decided to give fans some additional pages worth of content.

Following Season 1’s success, Solo Leveling has made a name for itself as one of the greatest webtoons in the game. While the manhwa has reached incredible heights and the anime is making its mark, Solo Leveling arguably had one of the most hyped and anticipated animation debuts in recent memory.

However, one rule both creators have followed throughout their careers has probably helped them after the questionable endings of their respective series. It also highlights a huge problem with how fans of popular anime-manga series engage with their favorite mangaka.

Death Note is one of those anime that made the medium popular overseas. It’s a great gateway series and the thrilling execution paired with great characters appealed to many fans.

Aka Akasaka has contributed immensely to the seinen genre through his mangas. Apart from being bestsellers, both manga have impacted readers worldwide. But that is not all, considering the positive reception of his works.

Be it Kaguya-Sama: Love is War or Oshi no Ko, both works have stood out in terms of their storytelling. However, they have their fair share of pitfalls that had fans worried.

My Hero Academia manga concluded its serialization on Aug 4, 2024, while Jujutsu Kaisen came to an end on Sep 29, 2024.

Jump Festa 2025 is set to take place on Dec 21-12, 2024 at Tokyo’s Makuhari Messe convention center. This year, the venue has been expanded and the number of stages has increased.

According to the latest statistics, manga holds a 43% share of the graphic novel and comics content category in 2023, compared to 45% in 2022.

The official X account of Takeru Hokazono’s Kagurabachi revealed that the manga has surpassed 1 million copies in circulation.

Currently four volumes of the manga have released, and all four volumes are getting a reprint on Nov 14, 2024.

In comparison, Jujutsu Kaisen manga had crossed 1.1 million copies by the time the 4th volume of the series (5 volumes in total considering Jjk 0) had released.

Meanwhile, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba hit the 1 million mark with the release of volume 6. Compared to these 2 best sellers, Kagurabachi has hit the milestone comparatively faster.

Demon Slayer had the worst endings in all of shonen anime. Well, that’s a statement which might have changed now that My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen have ended. The series had quite the buildup for its leading villain, Muzan Kibutsuji, from the start, and fans thought he’d have an amazing backstory and powers to defend himself.

However, the final fight of Demon Slayer‘s Infinity Castle arc was so predictable and linear that fans thought the author, Koyoharu Gotouge, rushed the ending and hence joined the Shonen manga ending curse. Muzan’s conclusion ultimately elevated villains such as Naruto‘s Kaguya and One Piece‘s Kaido to the level of supremely crafted characters.

Japanese entertainment giant Toho announced today that it has reached an agreement to acquire Gkids, the Academy Award-winning North American animation producer and distributor. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Gkids, which maintains offices in New York and Los Angeles, will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Los Angeles-based Toho International. Gkids Founder Eric Beckman will remain as CEO, and Dave Jesteadt will remain as President of the company.

Beckman and Jesteadt have run Gkids together since the company first released the Academy Award-nominated film The Secret of Kells as a two-person company in 2009. Together, they have grown Gkids into a powerful force in the U.S. animation scene, amassing an outstanding thirteen Best Animated Feature nominations at the Academy Awards and a win last year for Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron.
