The investigator Sunny Becker returns to work at the LKA after several weeks of sick leave and has to lead the search for the dangerous rapist and murderer André Haffner, who as escaped prison, as she deals with her own recent trauma.
Sunny is under enormous pressure and has to ask herself an important question: How can it be that Haffner is always one step ahead of his hunters? While the hunted feels safe, Sunny uses a daring ruse to provoke him.
The hunt for murderer and rapist Haffner is turning into a nightmare for Sunny Becker as she suspects an inside "rat". To make matters worse, she is convinced that someone from her own team is out to destroy her career.
Sunny wants to expose a dangerous opponent in the LKA team but to do this, she has to break her silence and reveal herself as a survivor or rape. Meanwhile her intuition leads her onto a new track on Haffner, who has gone into hiding.
The LKA's nerves are on edge: mishaps and leaks, cover-ups and mutual mistrust as well as an unresolved rape case undermine the team's ability to cooperate as Haffner, holding his 15-year-old son hostage, orchestrates a violent showdown.
The suspended Sunny finds out who wants to destroy her life while Haffner is getting interrogated by her colleagues. Letting herself in on the mind games, she embarks on a mission on which she has to rely on her rapist in order to succeed.
