The Midwich Cuckoos is a 1957 science fiction novel written by the English author John Wyndham. It tells the tale of an English village in which the women become pregnant by brood parasitic aliens. This television adaptation is the latest in a line of productions starting with "Village of the Damned" movies in 1960 & 1995, and radio shows in 1982, 2003, & 2017.
A remake of the 1960 movie was made in 1995 by John Carpenter and set in Midwich, California; it featured Christopher Reeve in his last movie role before he was paralysed.
The novel was filmed as Village of the Damned in 1960, with a script that was fairly faithful to the book. A sequel, Children of the Damned, followed soon afterwards.
Hannah Tointon's role as Rachel Saunders was the second time she was in a film/TV series about evil children. Her first time was a role in a horror film called The Children (2008) which is about murderous children. However this time, she was a mother to one of those evil children, instead of a teenage sibling like in The Children.
Ukweli Roach's breakout role was in Eternal Law in which he also starred with Samuel West.
