Now, in the year of our Lord 2025, Venom and Uncharted director has brought the band — J. Lionsgate has released the official trailer and poster for Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, the highly anticipated third installment opening in theaters on November 14, 2025.

The film is the sequel to Now You See Me (2013) and Now You See Me 2 (2016). The first film grossed $351.7 million at the global box office, and the second movie brought in $334.9 million.

In the sequel, directed by Ruben Fleischer, the Four Horsemen return along with a new generation of illusionists performing mind-melding twists, turns, surprises, and magic unlike anything ever captured on film.

Produced on a reported budget of $150 million, A Minecraft Movie has grossed an estimated $280 million domestically and $550 million worldwide. HBO's TV adaptation of "The Last of Us" has brought in a ton of new talent for its sophomore season, many of whom are portraying characters from the second video game in the series, "The Last of Us Part II." For a long time, movies based on video games didn't have the best track record. With the exception of 1995's Mortal Kombat and the Resident Evil series, the genre has been hit with multiple bombs and critically ravaged films. 

Disney themselves know that. In 1993, they released Super Mario Bros under its Hollywood Studios Banner, which regularly tops the list of the worst video game movies. It was everything that fans have slammed about these movies: Terrible casting, a plot bearing almost no resemblance to the games, a lousy script, and everything coming together in the worst way. 

In Disney's defense, they're not the only ones who have made this mistake with other video game movie flops. However, the last few years has seen the tide turning.

After struggling in development for the best part of a decade, cinemas were packed out this past weekend as A Minecraft Movie opened to the kind of numbers we’ve not seen for a while. Over $300m of business was done around the globe in the three days, and with school holidays kicking off, Warner Bros’ bank balance should look a fair amount healthier by the time the film has completed its run.

It’s little secret that A Minecraft Movie went through plenty of creatives on its way to the screen, though, with Jared Hess the director who finally got it completed. After three days of release, it’s already the second-highest grossing film of the year behind Disney and Marvel’s “Captain America: Brave New World” ($410 million after eight weeks on the big screen). “Minecraft,” a PG action comedy from Warner Bros. and Legendary, will surpass those ticket sales to rank as No. 1 in a matter of days.

Among other benchmarks, “A Minecraft Movie” scored the second-biggest international debut for a video game adaptation after Universal and Illumination’s “Super Mario Bros. Movie.” That film, which opened in 2023, scored $173 million overseas and $377 million globally over Easter weekend before ending its theatrical run with a mighty $1.3 billion.

This is the biggest project that he has worked on, although both Black and Momoa have experience with mega-budget blockbusters.

With $157 million domestically and another $144 million from overseas markets, A Minecraft Movieearned a cumulative $301 million in its global box office debut, shattering expectations and setting the stage for what could be W.B.’s first billion-dollar hit since Barbie in 2023, and definitely the studio’s biggest hit since Dune: Part Two last year.

Ruben Fleischer is returning for more Now You See Me with a fourth movie in the works. The announcement was made from the CinemaCon stage by Adam Fogelson, chair, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. The third film which he just helmed and comes out on Nov. 14, has gotten an official title, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.

The Now You See Me franchise has taken in $687 million worldwide. The first two films starred Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, and Morgan Freeman, among others, with Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Ariana Greenblatt joining as a new generation of illusionists and Rosamund Pike also starring in the franchise’s third installment, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.

Bobby Cohen, who originally developed and has produced all the films in the series, will return to produce the new installment alongside Alex Kurtzman of Secret Hideout. Meredith Wieck will oversee the project for Lionsgate.

As we first reported on GameFragger.com, the social media embargo for A Minecraft Movie has been lifted, and the first reactions are way more positive than expected. We know by now to take posts like these with a pinch of salt, though at least one critic didn't shy away from calling it "easily the worst movie I have seen in years."

Video game movies have found a greater level of success in recent years, though there are still those that fail to strike a chord with moviegoers and gamers alike.

The latter category has found plenty to find fault with in A Minecraft Movie's trailers, though it does appear a lot of love has been poured into doing right by the games...even if making it a commercial-friendly blockbuster has involved giving this franchise the Jumanji treatment.
