No one can deny that Xbox is absolutely dominating the competition right now. In 2025, we’ve seen tons of exciting releases on its Game Pass subscription service. However, it took things to the next level by treating fans with two huge day-one releases: The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
With these releases, PlayStation fans are becoming desperate and jealous of Game Pass. A number of posts across social media channels have surfaced, with fans demanding that Sony take action before Xbox overtakes PlayStation.
One might think that Sony is actively listening to its fans and reevaluating its strategy. However, the only thing the Japanese gaming giant is doing is asking gamers about their favorite PlayStation titles of all time, a clear cry for attention.
Is this Sony’s answer to Xbox’s dominance?

Somehow, it's been almost a decade since our favourite band of criminally talented magicians, The Four Horsemen, last rode out in Jon M. Chu's 2016 heist sequel Now You See Me 2. Now, in the year of our Lord 2025, Venom and Uncharted director has brought the band — J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson), Henley Reeves (Isla Fisher), and Jack Wilder (Dave Franco) — back together for ingeniously titled threequel Now You See Me: Now You Don't. And for their next trick, the Horsemen are enlisting a new generation of illusionists (Dominic Sessa! Ariana Greenblatt! Justice Smith!) to nab a whopping diamond and help take down a Rosamund Pike led criminal enterprise using the power of magic. And you can check out the splendidly silly, spellbinding trailer below:
"It is very good to be back!" declares Eisenberg's rizz wizard J. Daniel Atlas at the top of this flashy first trailer for Fleischer's film.

Guy Ritchie is trading gangsters for globetrotting as his latest film, Fountain of Youth, has dropped a new trailer — and it’s giving full-on Indiana Jones meets National Treasure energy with a glossy Apple Original Films finish. The action-adventure flick, led by John Krasinski and Natalie Portman, is set to premiere globally on Apple TV+ on May 23, 2025. In the film, Krasinski and Portman play estranged siblings reluctantly reuniting for a very casual global heist, as one does, to find the Fountain of Youth.
What begins as a treasure hunt quickly becomes a race through time and legend, as the pair tap into their historical know-how to follow cryptic clues, evade rival hunters, and quite literally dodge bullets in pursuit of the world’s most enduring mystery: immortality. Because who doesn’t want eternal life in the middle of a global crisis, right?

From plumbers to hedgehogs, the box office is embracing gaming’s biggest icons! Remember when video game movies were the laughingstock of Hollywood? Yeah, we too. For decades, it seemed like filmmakers just couldn’t crack the code on how to transform our favorite interactive experiences into compelling cinema.
We all sat through those painful early adaptations and wondered if games were just meant to stay on our screens at home.

"There's a power in there beyond any of our comprehension - I can feel it." Apple TV has revealed a second official trailer for Fountain of Youth, a big Indiana Jones-esque adventure comedy from filmmaker Guy Ritchie. It begins streaming on Apple TV+ in May during this summer movie season - not in any theaters unfortunately. Fountain of Youth follows two estranged siblings who reluctantly partner on a global heist to find the mythological, legendary Fountain of Youth. They must use their knowledge of history to follow clues on an epic adventure that will change their lives... and possibly lead to immortality. The movie stars John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, Eiza González, Domhnall Gleeson, Arian Moayed, Laz Alonso, and Carmen Ejogo, with Stanley Tucci (as the "bad guy" trying to protect the fountain). While this is trying to be another National Treasure or Uncharted, it doesn't have the right vibe and still looks like a mess.

The legendary voice actor Nolan North is well-known for his craft in the Uncharted series, where he voices Nathan Drake to life. With an endless list of bringing characters to life, some of the most popular ones include Desmond in Assassin’s Creed, Sergeant Randall in Call of Duty 2, Hades in God of War, Dr. Edward Richtofen in Call of Duty Zombies, The Prince in Prince of Persia, to name a few.
Having been known for lending his voice to mainly story-heavy franchises, his decision to sign on for the racing title, Dirt 5, that too without any script, left us fans shocked in curiosity, to say the least. Let’s find out why North agreed to such an unusual move.
Why Nolan North’s Dirt 5 move makes total sense
Given North’s extensive work in the gaming industry, the reason behind his decision to voice for Dirt 5 was a little refreshing to hear.

Everyone has a favorite movie star. Whether you grew up cheering on Harrison Ford as he kicked the crap out of legions of Stormtroopers or laughed when Tom Hanks danced on a massive piano, at some point or another, an actor from Tinseltown captured your attention and forced you into a theater to witness their latest big-screen escapade. Julia Roberts, Denzel Washington, Meg Ryan, and Arnold Schwarzenegger all took the world by storm in their heyday and used their incredible good looks and rock star charisma to entertain the masses, often pulling in hundreds of millions of dollars simply by having their name at the top of a poster.
Still, being a Hollywood icon occasionally has its drawbacks. Often, an actor will leap into the spotlight by playing a specific character and then get stuck playing that character for the rest of their career. Here are 15 examples of such an occurrence -- and no,...

Neil Druckmann just doesn’t care what you think anymore. The creative director behind The Last of Us franchise has apparently decided fan opinions are optional—a luxury afforded to those who’ve reached his level of industry clout.
But here’s the thing: when you’re steering the ship at Naughty Dog, one of Sony’s most valuable first-party studios, that cavalier attitude isn’t just risky—it’s potentially catastrophic.
During a recent Creator to Creator podcast with filmmaker Alex Garland, Druckmann casually dismissed the massive backlash to The Last of Us Part II with such nonchalance that it made my jaw drop. And it might just be the canary in the coal mine for his upcoming sci-fi epic, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
The “who gives a s***” approach to game development
Naughty Dog‘s creative head seems to have developed an immunity to criticism that borders on dangerous indifference.

Just 10 days into its global run, Warner Bros.’ A Minecraft Movie has already broken nearly every record that it could’ve. It’s the highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2025, having overtaken the lifetime haul of Captain America: Brave New World; it’s now also the second-biggest video game adaptation ever made, behind only The Super Mario Bros. Movie; and this weekend, it passed the massive half-billion mark at the global box office. Directed by Jared Hess and starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa, A Minecraft Movie is quickly establishing itself as a phenomenon, and is earmarked to become the first American movie to pass the coveted $1 billion mark worldwide this year.

HBO's TV adaptation of "The Last of Us" has brought in a ton of new talent for its sophomore season, many of whom are portraying characters from the second video game in the series, "The Last of Us Part II." Anyone who's played the game will be familiar with Nora, a key part of Abby's crew, former Firefly, and member of the Washington Liberation Front. The character was voiced by Chelsea Tavares in the game, who you may also recognize from her role as Patience Robinson on "All American."
Nora is back in the "Last of Us" TV series, played this time by Tati Gabrielle, a rising star who already has some major TV credits to her name. She's also something of a regular for Naughty Dog, the game developer responsible for the "Last of Us" games. Gabrielle previously played the villainous Jo Braddock in "Uncharted," the live-action Tom Holland adaptation of Naughty Dog's tomb-robbing,...

The road to bringing Uncharted to the big screen was paved with more plot twists than the treasure-hunting adventures themselves. Before Tom Holland ever donned Nathan Drake’s iconic henley, a very different vision existed—one starring Deadpool himself.
That vision came from director Joe Carnahan, who envisioned an R-rated adventure that nearly had Ryan Reynolds stepping into Drake’s boots. But like the ancient artifacts in the games, this version of the film vanished into the mists of development hell.

And behind this lost cinematic treasure lies a tale of creative control, studio politics, and some surprisingly candid comments about the franchise’s original creator and the man who would eventually take her place.
Reynolds’ lost treasure and Hennig’s stolen legacy
The Uncharted movie we eventually got bears little resemblance to what could have been.

When it comes to onscreen adaptations, we’re in “a video game renaissance.” At least, that’s what “The Last of Us: Part II” writers Halley Gross and Neil Druckmann think.
“Sometimes I’ll meet film directors that I’m a big fan of, like I had a meeting with Fede Álvarez, who just did the last ‘Alien’ movie, and he’s telling me how much he was inspired by ‘The Last of Us,’” said Druckmann. He’s head of the video game studio Naughty Dog and an executive producer and co-creator with Craig Mazin of “The Last of Us” TV show at HBO.
“Then I had an interview with Alex Garland and he’s telling me how much he’s inspired by ‘The Last of Us: Part II,’” Druckmann said. “And I’m like, ‘Dude, I stole everything from you from ’28 Days Later.’ What are you talking about?’”

Hot off its incredible debut, A Minecraft Movie has already established itself as one of the highest-grossing video game adaptations of all time, even before it enters its second week in theaters. The film broke records in its first weekend of release, surpassing the benchmarks set by The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Barbie. It's poised to top the charts in its second weekend as well. Directed by Jared Hess, who remains best known for the cult classic Napoleon Dynamite, A Minecraft Movie stars Jack Black and Jason Momoa in the lead roles.
With $185 million domestically in less than a week, A Minecraft Movie is among the five highest-grossing video game adaptations ever made. This weekend, it'll overtake both Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ($190 million) and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 ($236 million) to become the second-biggest video game adaptation of all time. A Minecraft Movie, based on the bestselling video game in the world, is, to put it lightly, an abomination. It currently sits at a “rotten” 48 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and Rolling Stone’s own review was far from glowing, calling it an “expensively cheap, 100-percent corporate mess.”
But despite the lackluster critical reception, it had the biggest video game movie opening weekend ever, with a record-breaking $157 million in the U.S. alone, surpassing The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023), which also stars Jack Black, Uncharted (2022), and three Sonic The Hedgehog movies...

After surpassing The Super Mario Bros. Movie's opening weekend record for video game adaptations, A Minecraft Movie has broken new ground less than a week into its theatrical run. In just four days of release, in fact, the film has become one of the 10 highest-grossing video game adaptations in global box office history. It's now poised to overtake the lifetime global haul of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, one of the earliest big-budget video game adaptations produced during a particularly tragic run for Disney. It was only shortly afterward that the studio released mega-budget bombs such as John Carter and Tomorrowland.
Directed by Mike Newell, Prince of Persia starred Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role of Prince Dastan; the movie also featured Gemma Arterton and Ben Kingsley. It debuted theatrically in 2010, and concluded its run with $90 million domestically and around $335 million worldwide. Intended as a franchise-starter, the...

Warner Bros has landed an unexpectedly huge hit with A Minecraft Movie. But then, videogame adaptations have long attracted sizeable audiences…
What was the first ever live-action movie based on a videogame? The popular thinking is that it was 1993’s Super Mario Bros. In reality, it was Mirai Ninja – known in the US as Cyber Ninja – a big-screen rendering of an obscure Namco arcade game released in 1988. A full five years before Hollywood’s Mario adaptation, it featured a striking mix of katana-swinging action and giant Heian period-themed robots, yet largely drifted by unnoticed. Criminal, really. (Good news, though: it’s on archive.org if you want to watch it.)
Super Mario Bros, thanks to the recognisability of its name and the huge marketing campaign surrounding it, soon became infamous for its distinctly loose handling of Nintendo’s bouncy fairytale videogame franchise. Its critical and financial failure set something of...

Video game movies are hot and that makes it the perfect time for Disney to bring a beloved game series to the big screen!
For a long time, movies based on video games didn't have the best track record. With the exception of 1995's Mortal Kombat and the Resident Evil series, the genre has been hit with multiple bombs and critically ravaged films.
Disney themselves know that. In 1993, they released Super Mario Bros under its Hollywood Studios Banner, which regularly tops the list of the worst video game movies. It was everything that fans have slammed about these movies: Terrible casting, a plot bearing almost no resemblance to the games, a lousy script, and everything coming together in the worst way.
In Disney's defense, they're not the only ones who have made this mistake with other video game movie flops. However, the last few years has seen the tide turning.

Sitting atop the global box office is A Minecraft Movie, a film that’s taken 11 years and 28 writers to get to the screen.
After struggling in development for the best part of a decade, cinemas were packed out this past weekend as A Minecraft Movie opened to the kind of numbers we’ve not seen for a while. Over $300m of business was done around the globe in the three days, and with school holidays kicking off, Warner Bros’ bank balance should look a fair amount healthier by the time the film has completed its run.
It’s little secret that A Minecraft Movie went through plenty of creatives on its way to the screen, though, with Jared Hess the director who finally got it completed. But also, a lot of writers were involved. The final WGA-sanctioned credits for the film list six different names. Story on the film is credited to Allison Schroeder,...

Update: “A Minecraft Movie” landed on the big screen as an instant (and surprise) blockbuster smash with $313 million globally, providing Hollywood and cinema owners with a much-needed box office boost.
After three days of release, it’s already the second-highest grossing film of the year behind Disney and Marvel’s “Captain America: Brave New World” ($410 million after eight weeks on the big screen). “Minecraft,” a PG action comedy from Warner Bros. and Legendary, will surpass those ticket sales to rank as No. 1 in a matter of days.
Among other benchmarks, “A Minecraft Movie” scored the second-biggest international debut for a video game adaptation after Universal and Illumination’s “Super Mario Bros. Movie.” That film, which opened in 2023, scored $173 million overseas and $377 million globally over Easter weekend before ending its theatrical run with a mighty $1.3 billion.

Building upon its spectacular performance at the domestic box office, A Minecraft Movie set records in its debut weekend globally. It delivered the biggest domestic opening for a video game adaptation, beating The Super Mario Bros. Movie’s record from a couple of years ago, and grossed around twice its reported production budget in its global debut. Starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa, A Minecraft Movie is directed by Jared Hess, who remains best known for co-directing the cult hit Napoleon Dynamite. This is the biggest project that he has worked on, although both Black and Momoa have experience with mega-budget blockbusters.
With $157 million domestically and another $144 million from overseas markets, A Minecraft Movieearned a cumulative $301 million in its global box office debut, shattering expectations and setting the stage for what could be W.B.’s first billion-dollar hit since Barbie in 2023, and definitely the studio’s biggest hit since Dune: Part Two last year.

Update: “A Minecraft Movie” leveled up at the box office, collecting a blockbuster $163 million in its opening weekend. It’s not only the biggest domestic debut of the year but the best in history for a video game adaptation.
Monday’s final number was above Sunday’s estimates of $157 million. Heading into the weekend, Warner Bros. and Legendary’s PG fantasy comedy, starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa, was projected to take in $70 million to $80 million, with some bullish analysts suggesting a final number closer to $90 million.
Thanks to pent-up demand for a family film, broad appeal and goodwill toward the 2011 video game, however, “Minecraft” squashed expectations in the U.S. and abroad. At the international box office, the tentpole added $150 million for a global start of $313 million. The film cost $150 million to produce before global marketing expenses.

According to Deadline (via GameFragger.com), it's currently eyeing a $130+ million debut in North America, though some believe it could reach $150 million. Some movies are critic-proof. All they need to do is to please their target audience; the wider the demographic the better. This week's A Minecraft Movie falls in this bracket. The video game adaptation is exceeding expectations at the box office, on the back of solid audience response. The first Uncharted film, starring Tom Holland, leaves a lot of space for speculation for the next film in the franchise. The movie has an open ending and raises more questions than it gives answers.
The 2022 film got a decent reception from fans of the Uncharted games as well as the non-gamer community. The sequel might have a gold mine in its hands if the creators decide upon a great storyline.

Mark Wahlberg Once Revealed Why He Kept His Boogie Nights Prosthetic Locked Away! ( Photo Credit – Flickr )
Mark Wahlberg still has the infamous prosthetic from Boogie Nights, and he’s keeping it locked up, probably for more than one good reason. “Yes, yes. It’s in a safe locked away,” Wahlberg said during an appearance on The Ellen Show. “It’s not something I could leave out. All of a sudden my kids are looking for a spare phone charger and pull that thing out and go, ‘What the heck is this?!’ It wouldn’t be a good look.”
Imagine them digging for a phone charger and pulling out Dirk Diggler’s legendary accessory. Yeah, that’s definitely not a conversation any parent wants to have. Will “A Minecraft Movie” level up at the box office?
Warner Bros. and Legendary’s cinematic take on the beloved video game is targeting $70 million to $80 million in its domestic opening weekend. Based on surging advanced ticket sales, rivals and independent tracking services believe the final number could be closer to $90 million, while Warner Bros. is offering a softer $65 million figure. “A Minecraft Movie” should add another $65 million-plus at the international box office for a grand total of $135 million to $150 million globally to start. The film cost $150 million to produce and plenty more to market.

Guy Ritchie is one of the busiest men in Hollywood, and he's not letting up anytime soon. "It's here. I can feel it..." Can you feel it, too? Apple TV has unveiled the first official trailer for Fountain of Youth, a big Indiana Jones-esque adventure movie from filmmaker Guy Ritchie. Though this is skipping theaters and will launch streaming on Apple TV starting in May during the summer movie season. Fountain of Youth follows two estranged siblings who reluctantly partner on a global heist to find the mythological, legendary Fountain of Youth. They must use their knowledge of history to follow clues on an epic adventure that will change their lives... and possibly lead to immortality. The movie stars John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, Eiza González, Domhnall Gleeson, Arian Moayed, Laz Alonso, & Carmen Ejogo, with Stanley Tucci (as a bad guy?). This seems a bit like a brand new version of National Treasure with a dash of Indiana Jones and Uncharted. Hopefully just as entertaining as National Treasure.

Apple Original Films has just dropped the first trailer for Guy Ritchie’s Fountain of Youth, and it looks like the director best known for gritty gangster flicks and slick spy thrillers is going full-on globe-trotting adventure mode instead of getting stabby in the streets of London — and bringing a stacked cast along for the ride. Starring John Krasinski and Natalie Portman as estranged siblings with a shared obsession for the impossible, Fountain of Youth follows them on an adventure to track down the legendary myth itself: the source of immortality. Would anyone really want to live forever in this hellscape? Eh.
Their journey kicks off as a globe-spanning heist, but quickly spirals into something far more epic — and potentially life-altering. Using their deep knowledge of history (and probably a few clever disguises), the duo must solve ancient clues, outrun rival treasure hunters, and, of course, dodge bullets along the way.

The long-awaited threequel in the hugely popular Now You See Me franchise just got a magical update, with the heist follow-up now being given the title that fans have long wanted to see. Announced at the ongoing CinemaCon event, Now You See Me 3 will see the core cast, including Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, and Isla Fisher return to once again cause all manner of mystical mischief as the Four Horsemen. And that's not all, as the third film won't be the end of the franchise.
Rather than following the trend seemingly set by its predecessor and being called Now You See Me 3, the third outing will instead be titled Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, it has been revealed. And thus finally doing what fans have wanted for some time (many expected and hoped the second movie would be given this title at the time). Moreover,...

Lionsgate just pulled off a bit of movie magic at CinemaCon. The studio officially unveiled the title for the third film in its hit Now You See Me franchise: Now You See Me: Now You Don’t — although not using this title earlier in the saga remains something of a crime. But that’s not all — director Ruben Fleischer isn’t stopping at just one installment. Lionsgate also revealed he’s already locked in to develop and direct a fourth movie in the action-heist series.
The third entry, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, will hit theaters on November 14, 2025, and it has already completed principal photography. The sequel brings back franchise stars Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson while adding a new generation of illusionists played by rising stars like Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Ariana Greenblatt. As we first reported on GameFragger.com, the social media embargo for A Minecraft Movie has been lifted, and the first reactions are way more positive than expected. We know by now to take posts like these with a pinch of salt, though at least one critic didn't shy away from calling it "easily the worst movie I have seen in years."
Video game movies have found a greater level of success in recent years, though there are still those that fail to strike a chord with moviegoers and gamers alike.
The latter category has found plenty to find fault with in A Minecraft Movie's trailers, though it does appear a lot of love has been poured into doing right by the games...even if making it a commercial-friendly blockbuster has involved giving this franchise the Jumanji treatment.
The reviews will be key for A Minecraft Movie - they...

The Last of Us' adaptation will stick to its existing source material, but no further.
Speaking with People, co-showrunner Craig Mazin shot down any suggestion that he and Neil Druckmann will take their story beyond the events of The Last of Us Part II, even if it requires extra seasons to tell that narrative. "No, Neil and I really are focused on telling the story that's there, and it will come to an end, whether it is in Season 3 or Season 4," he said, adding, "I'm not sure how I can top this. So if there’s more or less of this to happen, other people will carry it forward. And I'll go make tiny, tiny little things. Two people talking in a room, in a warm room."
Trailers for The Last of Us Season 2 have teased a mix of original scenes and iconic moments from the game, including several flashback conversations between Ellie and Joel.

Nathan Fillion’s humor is a TV staple, but The Rookie forced him to rein it in. His usual charm didn’t quite fit the high-stakes world of law enforcement, where bullets fly and danger looms. Unlike Castle or Firefly, where quips came naturally, this cop drama demanded a more grounded approach. Still, Fillion found a way to blend wit with grit, keeping his signature charisma intact.

While the jokes took a backseat, his presence remained just as compelling, proving that even in a serious role, he doesn’t need punchlines to steal the show.
