Mia Goth and Shelley Duvall share physical similarities, leading to online petitions for Goth to play Duvall in a biopic. Margot Robbie and Jaime Pressly have similar face and nose shapes, leading to comparisons and speculation about their relation. Jeremy Allen White has been called a younger version of Gene Wilder due to their physical similarities, sparking social media discussions on their potential connection.
There are some young actors that look a lot like older stars, so much so that they could play their younger versions at some point. It’s not uncommon to find a couple of doppelgängers in the entertainment industry, and the similarities between many of them have been so obvious that they have played younger/older versions of each other’s characters, as happened with Kiernan Shipka and Mckenna Grace in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Others have already worked together, though not always as characters related to each other,...

Joy is one of the funniest characters on My Name is Earl, and she’s played by a familiar actress with an impressive filmography. My Name is Earl revolves around Earl Hickey, a small-time crook who renounces his life of crime, writes down a list of all his wrongdoings, and sets out to make amends after he’s introduced to the concept of karma. Joy is Earl’s ex-wife who left him to marry Darnell, the busboy at the Crab Shack. In spite of Joy’s dismissive attitude towards Earl (and her tendency to call him “dummy”) they remained close friends – Earl even took the fall for Joy’s crimes.
In stark contrast with Earl’s mission to do good and Darnell’s kind nature, Joy is bad-tempered, ill-mannered, and obnoxious. Joy does have a deep capacity for love, seen in the care and affection she has for her two sons,...

In its prime, “American Idol” was a show that made gold from pretty much everything it came in contact with on Fox. At the height of its power, it made household names out of the people sitting in the judges’ chairs and competing every week. TV Land‘s gimmick of creating new sit-coms that are throwbacks to the style and general effort of those classic shows from the ’80s and ’90s is one that is proving more and more a hit-or-miss venture. What at first seemed a no-fail stroke of genius, has now put out its share of failures, and though it has led to some truly great shows, we’re learning that you can’t always spin success out of the concept.
For every Hot in Cleveland, there’s a Retired at 35. For every The Exes, we get a Happily Divorced. Not that those shows were terrible. They weren’t. “The Fosters” Showrunners Respond to Questions About Jude, and “Arrow” Plans a Birds of Prey Episode
News
TV Guide reports that Jessica de Gouw will be returning to Arrow as The Huntress in an episode titled “Birds of Prey”. There’s a Black Canary in Starling City now, so does that mean Felicity will start calling herself “Oracle“?
Steven Moffat talked with Vulture about this week’s Sherlock and said this was the scene he wanted to see ever since he was a boy reading Arthur Conan Doyle‘s stories. “I remember being a 12-year-old kid thinking, Oh, why didn’t we see Sherlock be the best man? Please, can we see that? That would be the best story in the whole world, and I don’t care if there’s a crime in it or not, because it must have been the best and worst speech of all time!”

I was never a huge fan of My Name Is Earl, despite being a big fan of most everyone involved, and Jaime Pressly has always been one of my favorites… for reasons that, to be completely honest, I don’t really understand. I couldn’t get behind I Hate My Teenage Daughter, but she almost made it work. With the right material, she has the charm and comedic timing to pull audiences in. Considering TV Land‘s solid record so far, this may be one to really watch out for.
That said, and considering TV Land‘s obvious bent toward the styles and sensibilities of sit-coms from 20-30 years ago, this one sounds like it could easily go too far toward the silly, milking cheap laughs at every turn (a la Mom). It will be interesting to see how the cast rounds out, but for now we have something to look forward to.

Here’s some tentatively good news for gay TV. Fox has ordered six episodes of the John Mulaney comedy series that NBC rejected last spring. The original pilot included Martin Short, Nasim Pedrad and Elliott Gould as Mulaney’s gay neighbor. Currently, it sounds like Pedrad and Gould might not be a part of the Fox series. Let’s hope there’s still a gay neighbor on the show.
Fox’s version of Broadchurch will have David Tennant reprising his role from the original series, though he’ll play the part with an American accent. Meanwhile, Dan Futterman will help run the show.
FX’s upcoming Fargo miniseries has added Colin Hanks to the cast as a single dad who is a police deputy.
Bob Newhart will be returning to The Big Bang Theory and this time he’s seeking revenge — against rival TV host Bill Nye.

MTV has found new showrunners for Awkward., and has ordered a fourth season of the scripted comedy.
More Awkward., more Matty!
Now that I know that infoMania alum Sarah Haskins co-created the upcoming ABC comedy Trophy Wife, I’m a lot more interested in it.
The TV Land comedy pilot Jennifer Falls has cast Jaime Pressly for its lead role, TVLine reports. The pilot follows a businesswoman who loses her job after losing control of her temper and moves in with her mother. I just hope the script has better punchlines than I Hate My Teenage Daughter.
Starz has cancelled Magic City. First Boss, now Magic City. I wonder if this will be the last time Starz quickly orders a second season of a series, only to cancel it after that second season airs.

My Name Is Earl alum Jaime Pressly has landed the lead in TV Land’s new half-hour comedy pilot, Jennifer Falls.

Slowly but shortly! Jaime Pressly had her long blond locks cut into a chin-length style on June 18. Advertisers were given their first big glimpse of the fall TV schedule Monday as NBC launched the annual Upfront Week in Manhattan. The upfronts are lavish (and longish) network presentations staged for the ad community with the hope of vacuuming up all their money with the promise of great, popular shows. The truth is, of course, that few shows manage to be great and/or popular. One could even call this a sad truth. The "Office" alum and longtime "Boston Legal" star returns to the spotlight on the Peacock network and this time, instead of upholding the law (albeit via blackmail, bribery and the like), he's breaking it. I'm just thrilled at the news that Jonathan Del Arco has been promoted to a series regular for the second season of Major Crimes. Dr. Morales has been way too much fun for the little screen time he's gotten, so I've been hoping this would happen.
Last night, Ed Schultz announced that his show is moving to a two-hour weekend time slot next month, which opens up a major prime time slot on the news channel. If I'm reading the New York Times' item correctly, the new prime time host could be announced later this morning, with Chris Hayes, Ezra Klein and Joy Reid mentioned as front runners. That might explain why Klein has been making so many guest-hosting appearances lately.

We're starting to get details of American Horror Story's third season. Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson will return for the third story. Ryan Murphy added that he had promised Jessica Lange she'd get to wear some designer gowns to get her to return after playing Sister Jude, so her character this time will be a "glamour cat leading lady."
Meanwhile, the big industry news is that Fox might split American Horror Story's network into two channels. Broadcasting & Cable reports that FX would keep the dramatic content while the new network would focus on comedy (similar to the division between TNT and TBS) and inherit shows like Archer and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The new channel would take over the Fox Soccer channel.
After quitting Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Meredith Viera might be entering the daytime talk show scene.

The as-yet-untitled series has a 22-episode commitment and will launch in the fall.
