Netflix has ordered the psychological thriller limited series “His & Hers” with Tessa Thompson set for the lead role, Variety has learned.
The streamer has given the series a six-episode order. It is based on the Alice Feeney novel of the same name. William Oldroyd and “Ozark” co-creator Bill Dubuque serve as writers and executive producers on the series, with Oldroyd also set to direct the first episode.

Samantha Weinstein, a Canadian actress since childhood who played high school student Heather in the 2013 remake of Carrie, has died. She was 28.
Weinstein died May 14 at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto after a battle with ovarian cancer. James Crammond, her agent at Noble Caplan Abrams in Toronto, said Weinstein worked up until May 4, doing an animation voice session.
“A trouper to the end. We all miss her terribly,” Crammond told The Hollywood Reporter.
A photo was posted on Weinstein’s Instagram page with the caption: “After two and a half years of cancer treatment, and a lifetime of jet-setting around the world, voicing a plethora of cartoon animals, making music, and knowing more about life than most people ever will, she is off on her next adventure.”
Born in Toronto on March 20, 1995, Weinstein had a breakout role playing Josephine in Big Girl, which won the best Canadian short film award...

The Writers Guild of America, East will present Tom Fontana, the creator of HBO’s “Oz,” with the Ian McLellan Hunter Award for Career Achievement at the 71st Annual WGA Awards. The awards ceremony will be held at New York’s Edison Ballroom on Feb. 17, 2019.
Fontana, who joined the guild in 1982 as a writer on the NBC medical drama “St. Elsewhere,” is the creator of several groundbreaking shows including “Oz,” “The Philanthropist,” “Copper” and Netflix’s “Borgia,” and was a writer on “Homicide: Life on the Street.” He is currently the showrunner for “City on a Hill,” a drama created by Chuck MacLean, which will premiere on Showtime in 2019.

Frank Pugliese has signed on as the showrunner for TNT’s “The Angel of Darkness,” the sequel series to the cabler’s acclaimed limited series “The Alienist.”
Pugliese most recently served as the co-showrunner on Netflix’s “House of Cards” alongside Melissa James Gibson. His other television credits include “Night of the Living Dead,” “Homicide,” “Love and Blood,” “Fallen Angels,” “Street-time,” “The Beat,” “Law and Order,” “Borgia,” and “Copper.”

The as-yet untitled series (fka Secure and Hold: The Last Days of Roger Ailes), a Blumhouse Television and Showtime co-production, is based on Gabriel Sherman’s bestselling book The Loudest Voice in the Room and his extensive reporting for New York magazine about the sordid allegations of sexual harassment that prompted the late Ailes’ ouster at Fox News. John Wells Productions has brought in Erin Jontow as Evp of Television. Jontow comes to Jwp from Amazon Studios where her work included overseeing production on Matthew Weiner’s upcoming anthology series The Romanoffs and development of The Nix, the J.J. Abrams-Meryl Streep limited series, which the streaming service had in consideration for some time in the past year or so.
Prior to Amazon, Jontow worked as the VP of Television at Media Rights Capital Studios on series including Ozark and House of Cards. She previously served as VP of Scripted Development & Programming at BBC America, where she oversaw Orphan Black and Copper, among others.
“We are delighted that Erin will be joining our team,” said John Wells. “She has an extraordinary reputation within the industry and impeccable taste, strong relationships and a keen eye for talent.”

Mr. Robot executive producer Kyle Bradstreet has been tapped to write and executive produce Alice Isn’t Dead, a TV series based on the podcast and upcoming novel by Joseph Fink, which is in development at USA Network and Universal Cable Productions. The gig falls under Bradstreet’s overall deal at Ucp, which acquired the rights to the podcast last summer.
Created by Fink and published by Night Vale Presents, Alice Isn’t Dead the podcast follows Keisha as she traverses the country as a truck driver, searching for her wife Alice, whom she had long assumed was dead. The film is already in production, but we still don’t know that much about the new Bourne outing, beyond the fact that Matt Damon is back as the titular hero surrounded by a crop of faces both new and old. And while we don’t know what he’ll be up to, we do know that Copper’s Ato Essandoh has landed a role in the film.Paul Greengrass is back as the director once again, having co-written the script with Christopher Rouse. “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl’s” Rj Cyler has been cast in the Showtime pilot “I’m Dying Up Here.” Cyler will play struggling comedian Adam in the large ensemble comedy. Based on the book by William Knoedelseder, the project is set in Los Angeles during the 1970s. It is written and executive produced by former stand-up comedian Dave Flebotte (“Will & Grace”). Rock legend Patti Smith is teaming with Showtime for a limited series adaptation of her 2010 memoir, Just Kids.
