Interesting story with a serious theme and a lot of jumps in the timeline. The story revolves around three mates from the safeguard at the local beach. One of them is gay and overshoots one mate who is the current champion within the team. This bloke is fueled by homophobia and delusional ideas about what it takes to "be a man". According to this guy, one can only call himself a man once his image of men is met, which are beliefs coming from his abusive father. Eventually, overwhelmed by his own sexual desires towards men, emotions start to conflict. He switches his insecurities into aggressiveness against gay men and eventually bullies the gay team member who had become the champion. The film emphasizes "toxic masculinity" among people, and the horrendous effects this can have on gay people through homophobia. It shows how an insecure self can harm someone who is okay with himself, and how potential acceptance and common love turn out to be evaded.
