"O Fim do Filme" ("The Movie's Ending") is a fun and peculiar short film destined to conquer heart and minds of film lovers out there with is thematic about the power
of movies on peoples lives. It deals with the effects and emotions movies causes on viewers, specially if we talk about that one special movie we keep coming back time and
again to discover more and more things when the usual viewer only wathces once.
João (Gabriel Bodstein) works on a video store where his main play on customers who want to rent a movie is to reveal the ending of the movie they're about to pick to
home. Basically, he spoils the fun for everybody and his boss has to convince the clients to rent it for free, and move the employee to the boring night shift where nothing
happens. Until the appearance of a regular pretty woman (Gabriela Cerqueira) who only rents the exact same movie over and over, which surprises the man who actually gets
curious about the movie and that leads to frequent talks with her about the ending of the movie and how that ending can be viewed with different reactions, different conclusions,
all of which depends on the state of mind from the viewer or maybe to figure out if the alleged open ending can actually provide so many meanings.
I guess most of us who enjoy movies we love to discuss about them and when a particular have open endings or not much of a conclusive one, the debate gets heated up and
theories come to the surface, and with that we can generate a great deal of empathy with people who reached the same conclusion as us. In this movie case, it's interesting to
see the level of discussion they have about the movie (a fictional created for this short) and how the girl always have the more refined and intelligent of answers to the
clueless guy who works with movies but doesn't actually know about them, so ends up learning a lot about it and even about the mysteries of love.
A superb comedy that will make you treasure the art of cinema, to learn to see movies beyond what's present on the screen and make some flights of imagination. I loved it,
find it very funny despite its crystal clear ending. 10/10.
