Last Year’s Winner: Uzo Aduba, “Mrs. America”
Still Eligible: No.
Hot Streak: The same actor hasn’t repeated in this category since Regina King took home back-to-back trophies for “American Crime” in 2015 and 2016 — which is the only time anyone has garnered consecutive wins in a category not exactly conducive to repetition — but nominees from streaming series have won the last three years running.
Fun Fact: As is the case surprisingly often with the Emmys, the actor with the most nominations in category history is not among the most awarded winners. Kathy Bates has seven nominations here
Notable Ineligible Series: “American Crime Story: Impeachment” (the season did not air in time to be eligible); “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” (submitted as a Drama Series)
At the bottom of this page are IndieWire Deputy TV Editor Ben Travers’ predictions for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or TV Movie.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: Who has been the best guest star on a scripted show?
Tim Surette (@timsurette), TV.com
Wayne Brady showing up in body armor and riding a horse on Syfy’s post-apocalyptic disaster disaster “Aftermath” needs to be mentioned somewhere in this critics’ roundup, so here it is. But I’ll point out two from intentional comedies that come to mind. Timothy Olyphant’s short run on “The Grinder” as himself was fantastic and if I didn’t mention this my coworker Kaitlin would kill me. But my pick goes to David Duchovny, also as himself, on “The Larry Sanders Show.” We’d largely known Duchovny for...

So far, this season of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" has exemplified much of what the series does best. It kicked off with a sequel to one of its most popular episodes, reminding fans of how creator Rob McElhenney and fellow writers/producers Glenn Howerton and Charlie Day often reward long-term viewers for their devotion. In the same vein, Season 11 also included a redo, of sorts, when Frank got hit on the head and started reliving the episode when he first joined the gang — a meta-callback to redundancies implemented a few times prior. Paddy's gang also tried to scam some folks in last week's episode, "Dee Made a Smut Film," which is another popular trope of these hard-drinking dreamers. Read More: Watch: 'Archer' Season 7 Teaser is The Greatest Event in Television History But it's the two other episodes of this young season that best epitomize what "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" does best.

Meet "Archer P.I."!
FX dropped the season 7 trailer for "Archer," and it's a glorious homage to the opening credits of "Magnum P.I." (and reminds us of Adam Scott's "The Greatest Event in Television History"). Archer zips around in his red sports car, stalks through the jungle, and even wears a Hawaiian shirt! Plus there are are shots of Cyril doing Tai Chi and Pam dressed as a rodeo clown!
"Archer" undergoes another reboot this season, moving into the world of private investigation. That sounds like it might be similar to season 5, aka "Archer: Vice," which parodied '80s crime shows and turned the whole crew into cocaine dealers. Last season returned to the more normal international spy game, but now Archer is going full Selleck and trying out detective work.
"Archer" season 7 premieres Thursday, March 27 on FX.

Yesterday news broke that — because nothing dead can ever die — NBC was developing a new take on the 1980s series "Hart to Hart," but, in what does seem like an interesting twist, this version will center on a gay couple. The synopsis, according to Deadline: Written by Christopher Fife (Revenge, Private Practice), based on the Sidney Sheldon-created original, the new "Hart To Hart" is described as a modern and sexy retelling of the classic series that focuses on “by the book” attorney Jonathan Hart and free-spirited investigator Dan Hartman, who must balance the two sides of their life: action-packed crime-solving in the midst of newly found domesticity. Here's the thing: There's already been a reboot of "Hart to Hart," and I don't know how NBC can possibly surpass it. In 2012, Adam Scott began his legendary attempts to create The Greatest Event in Television History for Adult Swim, the first of which was a shot-for-shot.

Chicago – Adam Scott has become familiar to audiences through his five year run as Ben Wyatt on TV’s “Parks and Recreation,” but he is also creating a presence on the big screen, with various supporting roles in big films (“The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”) and his latest comedy, “The Overnight.”
“The Overnight” is an exaggerated and very funny truth story about marriage, sexuality and understanding the relationship to one’s self. Two couples, portrayed by Adam Scott, Taylor Schilling, Jason Schwartzman and Judith Godréche, start with a simple planned dinner party, and that gathering devolves into a substance-fueled debauchery which lasts through the night. Each individual learns a bit about themselves during the events, and Adam Scott’s character is particularly willing to participate in that change.

Eric Lavallee: Name me three of your favorite “2014 discoveries”…
Naomi Scott: Force Majeure. Artist Aaron Morse. Natasha Lyonne’s Instagram account: @nlyonne
Lavallee: How did Patrick Brice’s The Overnight land on your lap? What motivated to get behind the project and what were your thoughts on his debut film, Creep?
Scott: Destiny! Actually, we (Gettin’ Rad) had been trying to find a project to do with Mark Duplass. He brought us Patrick’s script and immediately after reading we were on board. I had seen an early cut of the wondrously weird “Creep“, which I loved, and couldn’t believe that both ideas came out of Patrick’s singular brain.

Adam Scott and his producer wife, Naomi Scott, are expanding their comedic footprint. Their two-year-old production company, Gettin' Rad Productions, has inked an exclusive first-look deal with Universal Television, which produces the actor's long-running NBC comedy Parks and Recreation. The name of their shingle is designed to be "both stupid and aspirational," he told The Hollywood Reporter at the time of its launch. As producing partners, the Scotts are best known for their popular Adult Swim specials, humorously titled The Greatest Event in Television History. With this two-year pact, they'll be focused on bringing

There have been few ideas as bizarrely noble as Adam and Naomi Scott’s The Greatest Event in Television History project, and we were excited to hyperanalyze the meticulously crafted series of specials with the married producers at our inaugural Vulture Festival. The premise behind Greatest Event is simple: frame-for-frame reenactments of the opening-credits sequences from semi-obscure 1970s and ’80s programs, such as Simon and Simon and Too Close for Comfort. To make the four installments that have aired on Adult Swim to date, the Scotts recruited some impressive names, including Jon Hamm, Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Tom Hanks, and Billy Joel. In their deep-dive interview with Vulture's Denise Martin at the Festival, they reveal that email exchanges with Jon Hamm sparked the idea, recount a memorable visit to Billy Joel’s house on Long Island, and divulge details about the Beverly Hills, 90210 re-creation that never was.

Parks and Recreation's Adam Scott and awesome human Paul Rudd could get together and make a video about how to properly sit in a chair and it would still be the best thing ever. But they've come out with another episode of The Greatest Event In Television History, which is actually the best thing ever. Last time we got an episode of The Greatest Event In Television History, it was Scott and Jon Hamm recreating the opening credits to Simon & Simon. Scott has also paired up with Amy Poehler for a Hart to Hart remake, and we were also gifted with a Too Close to Comfort homage with the likes of Catherine O'Hara, Jon Glaser and Kathryn Hahn. Basically, there is no such thing as a bad episode of this show on Adult...

There will be yet another "Greatest Event in Television History" on Adult Swim this winter. Adam Scott ("Parks and Recreation") will be joined by Paul Rudd for this mysterious and glorious occasion. Jeff Probst ("Survivor") will return to host the countdown once again.
But what '80s show will the comedians be spoofing this time?
Based on a photo released by Adult Swim on Wednesday (Jan. 15), the mystery series involves two men who wear white t-shirts and sport loose and flowing hair. There may be others who appear in the credit sequence, but it's likely that these two will be the primary focus.
If "The Greatest Event in Television History" 4 follows the pattern set by its predecessors, Scott and Rudd will provide a shot-for-shot reenactment of some 1980s-era program. The original "Greatest Event" featured Scott and Jon Hamm recreating the opening credits to "Simon & Simon." Scott recruited his "Parks and Recreation...

Adam Scott continues to display connoisseur taste for the long-lost art of television opening credits sequences, which have shrunk from one-minute-plus opuses of introductory cheese to mostly a single note and a title card—Parks And Recreation remains one delightful exception. His Adult Swim special The Greatest Event In Television History, hosted by a deadpan Jeff Probst, featured the recreation of the Simon & Simon opening credits with Jon Hamm and Megan Mullally. Now Scott is ready to tackle a sequel special—set to air June 6—for another hourlong amateur detective series from the 80s: the Aaron Spelling-produced, Robert Wagner ...
