Earlier this month, Netflix released American Murder: Laci Peterson. And this week, on Tuesday, Aug. 20, Peacock dropped the three-episode docuseries Face to Face with Scott Peterson. The new doc recounts the murder of Laci Peterson and her unborn son, but from the Pov of the killer, her husband Scott Peterson. Needless to say, it’s the documentary no one asked for. And it is wildly unnecessary.
About 20 years ago, Scott Peterson was convicted of murdering his wife, Laci Peterson, who was pregnant with their unborn son. After finding mountains of evidence against Scott, he was sentenced to death in 2004. The California Supreme Court overturned this sentence in 2020. Scott is now serving life in prison without the possibility of parole. However, Scott claims innocence even today, and continues fighting for hearings, retesting findings, and presenting new theories.
Face to Face with Scott Peterson features the first interview in decades from Scott.

So close but no conviction. Investigator Joseph Becerra was ready to bring convicted murderer and millionaire Robert Durst to trial for the murder of his wife Kathie, but Durst died in prison before the family had a chance to have their day in court.
“My biggest frustration in all of it was the fact that I couldn’t bring him back to New York to be arraigned,” Becerra told Showbiz Cheat Sheet about Durst. “I was hoping at some point he would tell me where Kathie’s body is. But we were never able to do that.”

Durst was convicted of murdering his close friend Susan Berman following an acquittal in the murder of his neighbor. In 2000, Berman was found in her home with a gunshot wound to the head. Durst was tried and convicted for her murder 21 years later. He was sentenced to life without parole.

Oxygen’s Cold Justice production crew may not be professional true crime sleuths by trade, but working on a show that uses clues and investigations to solve a cold case can awaken the detective in just about anyone.
Casey Kriley and Jo Sharon, Co-CEOs of Magical Elves said working on a series like Cold Justice is unique in the sense that their show unfolds as the investigation, led by veteran prosecutor Kelly Siegler, progresses.
Kriley asks questions as she screens the episodes. “Whenever we’re talking about a case, even sometimes I’ll see the first cut of one of the cases that we investigated and I’ll call Scott Patch, who is our showrunner in post, and say, ‘I don’t understand how this could have happened. Or why they did this or why nobody’s talking about this,” she told Showbiz Cheat Sheet.
“And so and inevitably, over time,...

Similar to its streaming competitors like Netflix and Hulu, Peacock has been tackling the true-crime genre with dramatized series like "A Friend of the Family" and investigative documentaries that include "John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise." The streamer's latest docuseries, "Who Killed Robert Wone?" examines the 2006 unsolved murder of 32-year-old Robert Wone and the circumstances that surrounded his mysterious death, which continue to divide investigators today.
At the time of his murder, Wone was spending the night at the house of Joseph Price, a friend he had known since college, along with Price's domestic partner, Victor Zaborsky, and their roommate (and sometimes romantic partner) Dylan Ward. After finding Wone lifeless in bed, the trio called 911 and alleged that an intruder broke into the home and killed Wone before leaving the residence. However, evidence found at the scene, as well as a lengthy investigation, seemed to present a different theory that...

Peacock‘s Who Killed Robert Wone? is a true crime murder mystery onion with more questions than answers.
In the two-part documentary, streaming on March 7, director Jared P. Scott meticulously examines each salacious detail of the 2006 murder of 32- year old Washington D.C. attorney Robert Wone.
Who Killed Robert Wone? begins with a jolt – Wone is found stabbed to death at the home of three friends. Wone, a happily married man, planned to work late, so he arranged to stay overnight with friends Victor Zaborsky, his domestic partner Joe Price and friend, Dylan Ward.
Wone called his friends from his D.C. office to alert them he was on his way to their house – 79 minutes later Wone was found stabbed to death.
Investigators discovered a treasure trove of Bdsm toys in Ward’s room, strange needle marks on Wone’s body, and a crime scene that was suspiciously antiseptic.

February is over, and March is here at last! The days are getting longer, and though it may not seem like it quite yet, warmer weather and greener lawns are finally nearly here. Heck, the MLB season is now just a few weeks away, with Opening Day set for March 30.
But for many across the United States, this dream of spring is just that. To those with snow still in the short-term forecast, talk of warmth and good weather is but a mockery, a tease to torment the mind while the cold flakes fly. If you’re stuck inside and desperate for a distraction, we’ve got a list of new shows and movies coming to streaming this week that will help you preserve your sanity for at least a little longer.
