Katy Perry is ready to tuck into Season 17 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” now that MTV has released the star-studded list of extra special guest judges — and the trailer!
As seen in the Thursday teaser, joining the pop superstar in early 2025 will be Quinta Brunson, Sandra Bernhard, Paul W. Downs, Tracee Ellis Ross, Doechii, June Diane Raphael, Hunter Schafer, Jerrod Carmichael, Whitney Cummings, Julia Schlaepfer and Sam Smith, while Law Roach, Adam Lambert, Betsey Johnson and Jamal Sims are all returning to the mainstage as well.
Additionally, the “Rpdr” trailer also reveals the rules for the new twist, The Badonka Dunk Tank (which explains the wet promo theme). Once a queen is asked to sashay away after losing their lip sync, they’ll have the chance to pull one of 10 levers at random. If they successfully pick one of the two that result in Michelle Visage getting drenched in water, they...

LGBTQ themes are more common in rock music than a lot of people seem to think. For example, Fall Out Boys‘ “Thnks fr th Mmrs” appears to have a bisexual undercurrent. Pete Wentz had quite a bit to say about the song in question. He didn’t exactly deny LGBTQ interpretations of the song.
1 Fall Out Boy song seems to be about a man who has relationships with men and women
Every Fall Out Boy song is oblique. The band goes out of its way to use unusual metaphors. That means that Fall Out Boy songs tend to stand out but it can be difficult to parse out what they mean.
“Thnks fr the Mmrs” seems to be a song about casual sex. In the song, Pete Wentz brags about his sexual prowess to a woman. He also tells her “He tastes like you only sweeter.” For that reason, I...

Katy Perry is worth hundreds of millions but former fans are roasting her now because she fights a disabled veteran who is now a dementia patient over the value of a home that she purchased. Disgusted music and American Idol fans ripped into her when the story emerged on social media recently.
Katy Perry Upsets A Lot Of People These Days

Videoland, a streaming platform owned by Rtl Netherlands, will produce a Dutch adaptation of the popular dating show “I Kissed a Girl.” The format features single queer women searching for romance. The local version will be the first produced outside of the original UK series.
Laurens Woldberg, managing director of ITV Studios Netherlands which will produce the show, said the adaptation “offers great entertainment and an important platform for representation.” He explained it will showcase diverse relationships and help increase LGBTQ+ visibility on Dutch television.
The show follows women paired through compatibility testing. Their first interaction is a kiss to see if they feel a spark. This determines how their time on the show will unfold. Casting for the Dutch series is currently underway. It will film in 2025 and premiere exclusively on Videoland.
The success of the UK version streaming on Videoland suggests audiences in the Netherlands want more inclusive content.

Katy Perry‘s 143 is her attempt to reclaim her position as one of the Queens of Pop. It’s not surprising that the “Teenage Dream” singer is drawing inspiration from her back catalog. What’s shocking, however, is that she ripped off one of her lesser-known tracks. The song sounded better the first time around.
The complicated background of a Katy Perry single from ‘143’
Perry’s defining album is Teenage Dream. The album has some serious moments, but for the most part, it is pop culture candy. It even had cotton candy clouds on the cover! Tracks like “California Gurls,” “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” and “Firework” are perfect music for the dancefloor, the gym, or the mall.
The follow-up, Prism, was a little more grown-up. In it, Perry referenced William Shakespeare, dabbled in Eastern spirituality, and sang a power ballad about unconditional love. One of the highlights...

Who is Katy Perry? As she reminded people in the initial run-up to her comeback single “Woman’s World,” where she dusted off her six RIAA-bestowed Diamond awards, she’s one of the biggest-selling pop stars of the millennium, with fizzy, playful tracks like “California Gurls” and strident empowerment anthems like “Firework” racking up millions of sales. She’s judged wannabes on American Idol; she’s headlined the Super Bowl halftime show; she’s celebrated a king’s coronation. She’s done it all, backwards and in heels.

Some of Bon Jovi’s classic rock songs are everywhere. However, the “You Give Love a Bad Name” band’s songs don’t inspire the sort of analysis that other groups do. We are going to break the rules a little and cunt down the five best Bon Jovi songs.
5. ‘Bed of Roses’
Every metal band needs to get a little soft and sweet from time to time. A “bed of roses” is usually a metaphor for a life of ease. Here. Bon Jovi use the term literally. If roses on the sheets sound like a good Valentine’s Day, then this is the hit song for you.
The context is interesting as well. “Bed of Roses” was a hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1993. Even after Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” kicked off the grunge revolution of 1992, Bon Jovi were still going strong — commercially and artistically.

A cotton candy career of hits becomes a futuristic, post-apocalyptic dream. At Wednesday night’s VMAs, Katy Perry took the stage to deliver a medley of her greatest hits (and her new album, 143) as she celebrated receiving the coveted Video Vanguard Award.
Perry’s performance opened with a montage of her greatest videos. She kicked off her medley of hits by floating in the middle of a circle as she performed “Dark Horse.” Perry was wearing a futuristic, alien-like top as she flew over the crowd and was brought to the ground.

Katy Perry has worn a number of hats at the MTV Video Music Awards over the years, from winner to performer to presenter. Heck, she even hosted one year. But after Wednesday’s VMAs, Perry can add one more elusive title to her impressive resume: Video Vanguard.
In addition to accepting this prestigious honor — one recently presented to Shakira (2023), Nicki Minaj (2022) and Missy Elliott (2019) — Perry also took the stage to perform a medley of the hits that paved the way to this career-defining moment.

Katy Perry’s album 143, which is out Sept. 20, has been a long time coming, marking her first LP since 2020’s Smile. The singer officially launched her 143 era in June when she dropped the lead single “Woman’s World.” The song immediately faced pushback for its stereotypical imagery — which Perry later said was intentional — and generic pop sound. Rolling Stone later confirmed that Perry had worked with some of the producers behind Teenage Dream and Prism, including Max Martin — and, to the disappointment of many, Dr. Luke.
Perry followed “Woman’s World” with the electro-pop single “Lifetimes.

Singer Katy Perry has addressed her decision to continue working with Dr. Luke on her upcoming album ‘143’ – after Kesha accused him of sexual abuse.
In a discussion on the September 4th episode of Call Her Daddy With Alex Cooper podcast, Perry, 39, had expressed, “I understand that it started a lot of conversations, and he was one of many collaborators that I worked with.”
However, she emphasized that the core of the music is her own creation: “The truth is, I wrote these songs from my experience of my whole life, going through this metamorphosis, and he was one of the people to help facilitate all that — one of the writers, one of the producers.”
Dr. Luke’s History With Katy Perry
Dr Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, has a long history with Perry too, producing her breakout hit ‘I Kissed a Girl’ in 2008, as well as her recent ‘Woman’s World’ single.

Katy Perry is speaking out on the backlash she received over working with Dr. Luke (Lukasz Gottwald) on her new album.
While appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the singer was asked about the producer’s involvement in her upcoming sixth album. Perry received criticism over choosing to work with Gottwald given he had been in a legal battle for nine years with singer Kesha Sebert, known as Kesha, after she alleged she was drugged and sexually assaulted and wanted out of her recording agreement. Meanwhile, Gottwald maintained the accusation was false and sued for defamation and breach of contract. They reached an agreement last June, less than a month before the case was set for trial.
“I understand that [working with him] started a lot of conversations, and he was one of many collaborators that I collaborated with. But the reality is, it comes from me,” Perry said. “The truth is,...

Katy Perry was asked about choosing to work with Dr. Luke on her upcoming album, 143.
Dr. Luke notably faced allegations of abuse from Kesha (which he denied), leading to a decade of legal battles that ultimately ended in 2023.
While making an appearance on Call Her Daddy, Katy spoke about being in past relationships with narcissists who “couldn’t handle me in boss mode.”
She was then asked about the choice to work with Dr. Luke again. Katy and Dr. Luke previously worked together on many of her biggest hits including “I Kissed a Girl,” “Last Friday Night,” “California Gurls,” “E.T.,” “The One That Got Away,” “Dark Horse,” “Unconditionally,” and “Roar.”

Sixteen years after topping the charts with “I Kissed a Girl,” Katy Perry is set to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.
The pop star will also perform at the event, taking place Sept. 11 at Ubs Arena in Belmont Park, New York. The show was originally supposed to air live on Sept. 10 but changed to avoid airing opposite the presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.
Perry, who has won five VMAs, was last at the awards show in 2017, when she hosted and performed. Since 2008, she has released 14 Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including nine No. 1s. Her sophomore album, Teenage Dream, launched five No. 1 singles — matching a record set by Jackson in 1987 with Bad.

American Idol has found its new Katy Perry.
Deadline understands that Carrie Underwood has replaced the I Kissed A Girl star on the judging panel. Underwood, of course, rose to fame for winning the fourth season of the show, which then aired on Fox before moving to ABC.
She is expected to sit alongside Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan on the panel for Season 25.
The Disney-owned network has been searching for a replacement for the last few months and Deadline heard that other names that were in talks before Underwood included Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, something that Luke Bryan alluded, highlighting Pink and Meghan Trainor as well.

Ten women from all across Britain have come together in the rustic Italian countryside seeking romance. While the format may resemble certain other reality shows, this Masseria plays host to an exclusively queer cast, marking new ground for LGBTQ+ representation on British television.
The hopeful singles range from recent graduates to established professionals, but all share the hopes and fears that come with opening one’s heart to potential love and vulnerability. Paired at the start based on basic compatibilities, they must now get to know one another amid laughter and tears as new bonds form and priorities shift with each episode’s recoupling ceremony.
Firecrackers and wallflowers alike bring vivacity to the villa, while frank discussions address issues too often overlooked elsewhere. Through it all, an infectious joie de vivre prevails as women revel in this space to simply be—a freedom many never knew—in a community supporting...

Katy Perry‘s “Woman’s World” has been thoroughly trashed online. Some even see it as the California Gurl‘s worst single. Is that true? And what makes it so much different from other female empowerment songs?
Katy Perry’s ‘Woman’s World’ takes an old approach that doesn’t seem to be working
Perry’s discography has some dud singles. “Ur So Gay,” “Swish Swish,” “Bon Appétit,” and “Rise” are all bad songs. At the very least, they have some musical flavor. “Woman’s World,” on the other hand, has a generic dance-pop beat that wouldn’t impress even the most die-hard clubbers. It feels like a lazy cop-out at a time when Perry needs to be writing some of her best work to get back in the spotlight.
Many feminist songs are breakup songs that double as empowerment anthems. In tracks like Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive,” Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone,...

Katy Perry‘s Teenage Dream became the first album by a woman to have five No. 1 songs. One of those tracks is among the best pop songs ever recorded. Another is painfully overrated.
5. ‘Firework’
Blasphemy, I know. To many, “Firework” is one of the best self-empowerment anthems of all time, a perfect pick-me-up to combat sadness and anxiety. As someone who finds self-empowerment anthems almost inherently disingenuous, I never liked “Firework” much. However, I can recognize that it combines baroque strings and dance-pop synthesizers expertly.
After “Firework” topped the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks, Perry wrote many other songs in this vein. Her other uplifting tracks — “Part of Me,” “Roar,” and “Woman’s World” — got worse and worse. Se should have written another “Teenage Dream” instead of several more “Firework” clones.
4. ‘E.T.’

Katy Perry’s latest musical comeback has hit a snag as her new single “Woman’s World” bombed on the charts and with critics.
The track, released on July 11 as the lead single from Perry’s upcoming seventh studio album 143, entered the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 at number 63 and the U.K. Singles Chart at number 47. These positions fall short of expectations for the multi-platinum artist, known for her string of chart-topping hits.
Music critics have been harsh in their assessment of “Woman’s World,” with several prominent publications questioning the relevance and execution of its feminist themes. The song’s performance on streaming platforms has also been neutral, reaching only number 110 on Spotify’s U.S. chart and number 58 globally.
This lukewarm reception marks a significant downturn from Perry’s peak commercial success. Her 2010 album “Teenage Dream” made history when she became the first female artist to score five number-one singles...

Britney Spears‘ “Hold It Against Me” was initially intended for Katy Perry. The tune would have worked better in Perry’s hands for several reasons. Spears doesn’t ruin the song, but she sings it like she doesn’t understand the tone of its lyrics.

Dr. Luke was behind Spears’ big comeback in 2011. During an interview that year with Rolling Stone, Dr. Luke revealed “Hold It Against Me” was intended for Perry. Katy Perry‘s “The One That Got Away” has a title that came true. The song became one of the only major fumbles from the “I Kissed a Girl” singer‘s early career. Interestingly, the tune is about another famous singer.
Katy Perry’s ‘The One That Got Away’ stopped her from breaking a record
Perry’s Teenage Dream made history when each of its first five singles hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The songs in question were “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” “E.T.,” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F).” Teenage Dream tied with Michael Jackson’s Bad as the album with the most No. 1 singles on the chart. That made Perry the first woman to score that milestone.
The sixth single from the album was a piano ballad called “The One That Got Away.” It was clearly Perry’s attempt to pull at our heartstrings after all those upbeat party songs.

Katy Perry‘s “Woman’s World” could have been the comeback of the century. Instead, the “Firework” singer might have just destroyed the remnants of her career. While trying to play to her strengths, Perry horribly misjudged her appeal.
Katy Perry’s ‘Woman’s World’ should have had a better hook
Perry doesn’t inspire the same level of respect as other pop artists like Michael Jackson, Prince, or Madonna, but during her peak, she was good at tone thing: hooks. Love or hate a song like “California Gurls” or “Teenage Dream,” but after a few listens, you’ll remember it for the rest of your life. Katy Perry has dropped “Woman’s World,” the first single from her seventh studio album, the dance-oriented 143—the title of which, according to Perry, represents “a numerical expression of love.” The track is the singer’s first solo single since 2021’s “Electric,” from the Pokemon 25 soundtrack.
“Woman’s World” reunites Perry with Dr. Luke, a.k.a. Lukasz Gottwald, who helmed her career-making hits “I Kissed a Girl,” “Teenage Dream,” and “Roar.” Perry reportedly chose to cease working with the producer until after his legal dispute with fellow pop star Kesha, who accused him of sexual assault, was resolved. (The parties reached a settlement last year.)
Gottwald has maintained his innocence, but that hasn’t stopped some fans from questioning Perry’s decision to collaborate with him on a song about female empowerment. The upbeat electro-pop song is stacked with toothless, pseudo-inspirational declarations like “Fire in her eyes/Feminine divine/She was born to shine.

Kesha has teased a new song called “Joy Ride.” On Saturday, the singer took to Instagram to share a snippet of the track and announced that it will arrive on July 4.

Actress and singer Dannii Minogue shared her experience as the host of the U.K.’s first gay dating show, I Kissed a Boy, in her new uInterview.

The show follows ten single gay men who meet at an Italian country house called the “Masseria.” The men must meet “With a kiss—no small talk. No messages. Minogue recalls her reaction when she was pitched the show. “The first thing is the biggest shock – it was 2023, and there was no gay dating show. Period,” she said. “So it’s just shock,...

Katy Perry is launching a new era of music, and though it’s garnered some excitement, it’s generated some controversy as well due to the reported involvement of Dr. Luke.
It began on Monday when Perry teased a new song titled “Woman’s World” (due on July 11th), which led fans to notice that Dr. Luke was listed as a co-producer on the song’s Genius page. Rolling Stone has since confirmed that Dr. Luke is, indeed, involved in the project, citing a “Capitol Records source.”
Though the two have collaborated on massive hits in the past — like “I Kissed a Girl,” “California Gurls,” “Dark Horse,” and more — many were disappointed that Perry teamed up with Dr. Luke again, especially in light of his high-profile legal battle against Kesha. In the course of that litigation, he was accused of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, with Kesha even alleging that Perry was also a victim.

For her upcoming sixth album, Katy Perry worked with some of the producers who helped craft hits on Teenage Dream and Prism, Rolling Stone has learned. The pop singer reconnected with Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Stargate, and several others for KP6, the informal name for her first album in more than four years.
“Katy knew exactly the album she wanted to make and put together the team to make it happen,” a Capitol Records source confirms to Rolling Stone. “And that includes previous collaborators including Luke, Stargate, Max Martin, and Sarah Hudson,...

Katy Perry has announced that she’s putting out a new song called “Woman’s World.” She’s not the first pop star to use that provocative phrase in her music. Here’s a look at Perry’s interesting relationship with feminism.
Katy Perry’s new song will have the same name as a Cher track
Perry has written many songs about empowerment, the most famous being “Firework,” “Roar,” and “Part of Me.” None of those songs is about a specific group of people, the way that Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” is about the LGBTQ community or how Helen Reddy’s “I Am Woman” is about women. However, it’s pretty easy to use the aforementioned Perry songs as female empowerment anthems, especially since the music videos for “Roar” and “Part of Me” have girl power storylines.
Perry seems to be taking this theme to its ultimate conclusion with her upcoming single.

Netflix’s Seine-set shark thriller Under Paris could be taken off the platform within days of its release on June 5 due to legal proceedings brought by a writer-director who claims it was developed without his knowledge from an original idea he registered with France’s rights management body Sacd in 2011.
An initial hearing on June 14 will pass judgement on a legal request by the complainant’s lawyer for the film’s release to be suspended while a second lawsuit around accusations of parasitism makes its way through the courts.
Taking its cue from article 1240 of France’s Civil Code, parasitism is defined as one party following in the footsteps of another party’s efforts and know-how to benefit from their enterprise without seeking permission or making payment.
Set against the backdrop of the upcoming Paris Olympics and plans to hold the swimming leg of the triathlon contest in the Seine,...
