Sergey Esaulov is an ordinary traffic police inspector whose life is familiar and understandable. His wife Irina is a federal judge. Together they are raising their 18-year-old daughter Tanya. But one day, a family conflict turns into a series of events that dramatically change Esaulov's life. His daughter gets into an accident, and Esaulov finds his wife strangled in bed with his own belt. Having become a defendant in a criminal case, Esaulov takes on his own investigation of the murder. And in order to have at least some means of subsistence after being fired from the traffic police, he gets a job at city taxi company No. 13, which is headed by Timur Alimov.
