The series launches in the 23rd century, as a shuttle descends from the Galactic Confederation spaceship Chimera to the planet below in response to a distress call. During the course of the mission, they discover Ensign Trisha Blackburn left behind from the Confederation ship Sacramento's first contact mission months earlier. For Blackburn, things are not as they seem.

As conquest by the Klurgh looms, Ensign Trisha Blackburn's primary concern is that the laws of physics are on the fritz. The crew find themselves in a desperate struggle for survival, while also fighting their doubts about reality and their need for sleep.

The Klurgh are in control of the Chimera, but does it matter? Doctor Erhardt and Ensign Blackburn are increasingly skeptical that the Chimera is real. As the crew plot their revolt, they must also ponder the fundamental nature of existence and grapple with the question of what to do if everything they've known has been wrong.

Everything and everyone they knew is gone. Now what?

With the crew struggling to adjust to their new facts of life and one of them recently devoured, it's time for some soul searching.

Everyone's dead again -- but death is only the beginning of their journey, not the end.
