Created by Stav Idisis, the show stars Naomi Levov (On the Spectrum) and Rotem Sela (Beauty and the Baker) as the title characters. Dana is a gynaecologist and Murray a film lecturer specializing in romantic comedies. Their lives change when Murray flees the scene of a hit and run, and the man she crashed in to, Lior, shows up at her apartment – where he meets Dana and the two fall madly in love. Omar Sharif Jr. got early career advice from his celebrated grandfather, the legendary Hollywood actor Omar Sharif best known for his Golden Globe-winning performances in 1962’s “Lawrence of Arabia” and the title role in 1965’s “Dr. Zhivago”: Acting is not enough.

Israeli network Yes TV has greenlit a second season of Series Mania Award-winning comedy Bloody Murray, we can reveal.

Production will begin next year on Stav Idisis’ romcom, which is headlined by Naomi Levov (On the Spectrum) and Rotem Sela (Beauty and the Baker), who play two 35-year-old roommates looking for love.

The Gynaecologist and University Lecturer’s lives change when Murray (Levov) ditches the scene of a hit-and-run and the man she crashed into, Lior, shows up at her apartment – where he meets Dana (Sela) – and the two fall madly in love. Murray realizes her own feelings for Lior and chaos ensues as she convinces herself Lior is the one for her.

The show, which won the Best Comedy Award at Series Mania 2022, will launch in 2024. Director is Yogev Yefet, Kastina Communications and Yes TV are producers and Yes Studios handles distribution.

“The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem,” Yes Studios’ award-winning historical series, has been picked up by Netflix for multiple territories, including the U.S., U.K., France and Spain.

Italy’s Leone Film Group has teamed up with Wattpad, the user-generated fiction entertainment company, to develop a feature film based on “The Bad Boy’s Girl,” which is among the most popular stories on the storytelling platform.

Leone Film Group, a leading Italian production and distribution company, has also optioned the full series of novels in author Blair Holden’s “The Bad Boy’s Girl” saga, which is touted as having more than 220 million online reads, with plans to turn it into a teen romance film franchise.

The story of “The Bad Boy’s Girl” revolves around protagonist Tessa O’Connell, who has only two goals for senior year: to keep her head down, and to get over the heartbreak of seeing her longtime crush date her ex-best friend, according to promotional materials.

The show stars Aviv Alush (“Beauty And The Baker”) as a rabbi tasked with acting as both detective and psychologist for women whose husbands either refuse to divorce them or have disappeared. The rabbi will go to any lengths to get justice and free the women from the prison of an unwanted relationship. Exclusive: Fauda and Shtisel producer-distributor Yes Studios has quietly begun production in Israel on big-canvas drama The Beauty Queen Of Jerusalem, which marks its biggest investment to date.

Set in the early-mid 20th century, the ambitious series will chart the passionate and tragic history of a family living through the Ottoman Empire, The British Mandate and Israel’s War of Independence. The multi-generational historical melodrama will shoot across the country in Hebrew, English, Ladino and Arabic.

Adapted from Sarit Yishai-Levy’s bestselling novel of the same name, the drama will be among the most expensive series to come out of Israel. Screen Queensland, the Queensland state’s film support body, has struck a deal with Canada’s Wattpad to develop stories. Wattpad uses global audience insights and machine learning to find and develop hit projects for screens.

Screen Queensland and Wattpad will select up to three successful stories from the Wattpad platform and ask Queensland screen industry creatives to submit their ‘take’. Writers will provide a pitch outlining how they plan to translate the story to screen. The winning three may then move into further development with the input and feedback of the Wattpad platform audience over the following 12 months. The intention is to identify a project to secure marketplace backing and achieve production in Queensland.

Social storytelling platform Wattpad Studios has made its first European hire with Paris-based Carla Zeller.

Zeller joins as development executive for Europe. Based in Paris, she will focus on building Wattpad’s TV and film slate in Europe, overseeing productions as they move from Wattpad to screens. She will report to Eric Lehrman, Wattpad’s head of content development and production.

The television event, called “Fire Fight Australia,” will air on Feb. 29, and will be hosted by “Grease” star Olivia Newton-John. The actress was born in England but emigrated to Australia when she was six. She’s also an outspoken environmental activist.

The pre-taped concert will take place on Feb. 16 at Sydney, Australia’s Anz Stadium, and will feature performances by Queen + Adam Lambert, Michael Bublé, Alice Cooper, 5 Seconds of Summer, k.d. lang, and more.

The third season of ABC’s iteration of “American Idol” will launch on Feb. 16 at 8 p.m., while the freshman legal drama “For Life” will debut Feb. 11 at 10 p.m. The latter series hails from executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and follows a prisoner who becomes a lawyer while incarcerated. Premiere dates for fellow freshman scripted shows “United We Fall” and “The Baker & the Beauty” were not announced at this time.

The series is based on Keren Margalit’s Israeli drama Yellow Peppers, which launched in 2010, and was remade in the UK for the BBC by Peter Bowker with Christopher Eccleston, airing on SundanceTV in the U.S. The UK show is in production for season three.
