Mazza is also an actor as well as a musician. Notably, he appeared on the Nickelodeon series, Bella and the Bulldogs. Back in 2024, he joined the cast of General Hospital as Giovanni “Gio” Palmieri.

According to Friday’s closing credits, Mazza is the latest actor to join the show’s contract cast list, which includes 33 actors. The moves, which were expected after last week’s erasure of Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Star Trek: Prodigy, The Game and Queen of the Universe, come the same day that the conglomerate officially unveiled Paramount+ With Showtime.

Other titles that are being deleted from the service include Dave Grohl’s docuseries From Cradle to Stage, Ghislaine: Partner in Crime (the doc from former CBS News president Susan Zirinsky), the LeBron James-produced film Fantasy Football (which was picked up as part of Brian Robbins push for younger-skewing content) and family musical Snow Day.

Paramount+ opened the floodgates to purge content from its streaming platform last week when it removed Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, The Game, Queens of the Universe, and Star Trek: Prodigy.

Deadline reported Monday that all five seasons of Inside Amy Schumer had been banished from the service, with no telling whether the show will return at another destination.

Also removed is Tell Me a Story, which was canceled after two seasons in 2020.

The anthology from Kevin Williamson had previously been leased to The CW to help shore up its schedule during the pandemic.

Blood & Treasure, which began its life as a CBS original before being placed on a multi-year hiatus to return on Paramount+ before being canceled, has also been removed.

After a year of questionable decisions from streaming services that involve password sharing, app overhauls, advertisement tiers, removal of content and so on, the bubble is somewhat bursting as companies look to regain profitability through the purging of shows. It was not long ago that news broke about the streaming platform, Paramount+, canceling a number of projects, including Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Star Trek: Prodigy, The Game and Queen of the Universe. Not only is the streamer canceling these movies and shows, but they’re removing the titles from the application as well to reap the benefits of a content write-down.

Deadline now reports that more shows have been put on the chopping block over at Paramount+. One of the bigger names that is getting purged is the return of the sketch comedy show Inside Amy Schumer, which had returned to continue its run with a fifth season in six years.

The network has handed a script commitment to Price Wawa, an animated comedy from comedians Tim Baltz and Lily Sullivan and exec produced by Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald and Hayden Schlossberg.

The comedy centers around a naive merman prince, voiced by Baltz, who juggles life between the ocean, the only home he’s ever known, and his new life on land with his human mother in the breathtaking metropolis of Tampa, Florida.

Baltz, who stars in HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones, and Sullivan, who appeared in Netflix’s sketch show I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, will write and exec produce Prince Wawa.

Heald, Hurwitz and Schlossberg will exec produce via their production company Counterbalance Entertainment along with Counterbalance head of development Dina Hillier.

Iron Man 3 writer and director Shane Black is moving into animation with a new comedy project at Fox. Black, who also wrote the first two Lethal Weapon movies, is developing Crag Banyon P.I., based on James Mullaney’s book series.

Black and Mullaney will write and exec produce the project, which will also be exec produced by Stampede Ventures’ David Silverman, Greg Silverman and Paul Shapiro; Greenlit’s David Greenblatt; and Vinson Films’ Tripp Vinson.

If the project receives a presentation order at the network, David Silverman, who helmed The Simpsons Movie, will direct. It currently has a script commitment with Fox Entertainment as the studio with Bento Box producing the animation.

After bringing plenty of submerged scares to the big screen in 47 Meters Down in 2017, Johannes Roberts takes viewers back underwater for another round of eerie underwater encounters (this time in a cave system) in 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, and if you missed it in theaters, you can take the plunge into shark-infested waters this fall when Lionsgate unleashes the sequel on home media.

47 Meters Down: Uncaged will come to Digital 4K Ultra HD on October 29th, followed by a Blu-ray, DVD, and VOD release on November 12th via Lionsgate.

Joel Schumacher’s 1987 teen vampire horror The Lost Boys is an underrated gem. Sure, most of its awesomeness is down to a hugely charismatic young Kiefer Sutherland as the lead vampire, but that’s a casting that goes a seriously long way. Sarah Hay (Flesh and Bone), Cheyenne Haynes (Camping) and Haley Tju (Bella and the Bulldogs) are set as series regulars opposite Tyler Posey and Kiele Sanchez in The Lost Boys pilot, from Warner Bros TV, Spondoolie Prods and Gulfstream TV, the CW’s series adaptation of the iconic 1987 Warner Bros horror comedy movie.

Written by Heather Mitchell and directed by Catherine Hardwicke, The Lost Boys is set in sunny seaside Santa Carla, home to a beautiful boardwalk, all the cotton candy you can eat…and a secret underworld of vampires. Exclusive: Rising U.S. actress Brec Bassinger (Bella And The Bulldogs), recently cast as Stargirl in the Warner Bros and DC Universe streaming series of the same name, has joined the cast of 47 Meters Down — Uncaged.

As revealed yesterday, principal photography gets underway this week in the Dominican Republic ahead of a June 28, 2019 stateside release. Johannes Roberts returns to direct the sequel from a script he co-wrote with his 47 Meters Down co-writer, Ernest Riera.

The film will tell the story of four teens diving in a ruined underwater city, who quickly find themselves in a watery hell as their adventure turns to horror when they learn they are not alone in the submerged caves. Bassinger will play the popular, self entitled leader of a group of mean girls.

James Harris, Mark Lane and Robert Jones of The Fyzz are producing with Byron Allen, Carolyn Folks, and Jennifer Lucas executive producing.

Not long ago it was announced that DC was developing a series based on the character Stargirl. Today, we’ve learned that actress Brec Bassinger has been cast in the role of Courtney Whitmore a.k.a. Stargirl. Bassinger starred in a Nickelodeon series called Bella and the Bulldogs, which I’ve never even heard of until now. When talking about the casting of Bassinger in the role of Stargirl, producer and creator of the character, Geoff Johns, said:

"There is no other character in comic books more special to me than Stargirl, and after searching far and wide I can say there is no other actor on the planet that embodies her more than Brec Bassinger. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brec Bassinger has landed the title role on the DC Universe series, which received a straight-to-series order earlier this year.

It follows high school student, Courtney Whitmore (Bassinger) who rounds up an unlikely group of heroes to take down villains of the past.

Whitmore first appeared on Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. #1.

Bassinger is best known for her role on Nickelodeon's Bella and the Bulldogs.

Geoff Johns is attached to write and executive produce. Johns first created the character in 1999. He named her after his sister, Courtney, who lost her life in the 1996 explosion of Twa Flight 800.

The game is over. The Bella and the Bulldogs TV show has been cancelled by Nickelodeon, after two seasons. Star Brec Bassinger confirmed the show is over, on Twitter, posting, "I hope y'all enjoyed the last episode of #bellaandthebulldogs. It will forever have a piece of my heart."

The sitcom, created by Jonathan Butler and Gabriel Garza, features a cheerleader, Bella Dawson (Bassinger) who becomes the quarterback of her school's football team. The Bella and the Bulldogs TV series cast also includes Coy Stewart, Jackie Radinsky, Buddy Handleson, Lilimar, and Haley Tju.
