Devin tries out for a Club Soccer team and is excited by the positive feedback she gets from the coach. Her parents, though, won't let her play for both teams so she chooses to quit The Kicks in favor of the more skilled team. When she doesn't make the Club roster Devin has to get back in the good graces of The Kicks.

When The Kicks find out their coach has to leave for a family emergency, they go on the search for a new coach. If they don't find one in time, they won't be allowed to practice and will be forced to forfeit their first game. Upon discovering a suitable candidate, Kentville's head custodian, The Kicks have to convince him this new job is worth his time.

Coach Rivas has made it clear that Zoe is the weak link on the team so Devin takes it upon herself to improve Zoe's goalie skills. Mirabelle, in contrast, recruits a new goalie during her time in detention. Things come to a head at a slumber party when Devin is forced to be a true leader and make the best choice.

The bad condition of The Kicks' field makes Coach Rivas concerned for the safety of his players. After a failed fundraiser, The Kicks challenge the boys to a scrimmage and the winner will get to use the nice field that the boys get to use. After a tough game, the girls prevail but inevitably decide to share the good field with the boys.

Devin is faced with a personal crisis when she loses her soccer headband. She attributes all her bad luck to losing the headband and her teammates must calm her nerves before The Kicks lose too many games. Devin finds new traditions and superstitions with her new team that serve her just as well.

Devin is getting punished for breaking curfew. Her parents take away her cell phone, computer, and TV, which leaves Bailey in charge of getting messages to Devin. Mirabelle's punishment is more severe and The Kicks have to scramble to make sure they don't lose their teammate for good.

Devin's ankle is badly hurt, but she believes that if she can keep it a secret from the team and Coach Rivas they will allow her to play in the biggest game of the year against Pinewood Academy. To protect Devin, the team tells Coach Rivas about the injury who decides to bench Devin for the game.
