Shooting Gone with the Pope (2015)
*** 1/2 (out of 4)
In this 23-minute interview with Peter Santoro he's able to go into more detail about the making of GONE WITH THE POPE, Duke Mitchell's insane (now) cult classic that finally saw the light of day twenty-plus years after the director died. Santoro gets into a lot more detail about the technical side of things including various scenes where he saw goofs that he made or things that he wished had been different. Santoro also goes into great detail trying to explain what the entire filming process was and what Mitchell was doing. He talks about some of the people in the cast who got parts simply because they could offer something to the production. He also talks about Mitchell's way of handling things including the notorious scene in the picture where an obese woman is pretty much sexually attacked. Overall, fans of the film are really going to enjoy hearing these stories as Santoro really goes into detail and gives one a great idea of what it must have been like working on such a low-budget movie with someone like Mitchell behind the camera.
