When Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. introduced the Inhuman Lash in season 3, the show began unraveling the mystery of why Lash killed his fellow Inhumans. Though Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. began as a spin-off of the McU's Avengers, it started to diverge from the MCU in season 2. That’s when the series began to heavily feature Inhuman characters, some from Marvel comics, and some created for the show. The Inhumans were initially introduced through Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennett), formerly known as Skye in the first season of the series.
In the comics, Inhumans are those of Kree-human lineage that were experimented on in the ancient days of Earth. Their descendants exhibited different abilities and superpowers. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. adapted the Inhuman idea for the screen. People who previously believed themselves human found themselves with new powers after touching crystals that enveloped them in a transformative cocoon - a process known as terrigenesis. Inhumans...

"Rick and Morty" is a series that's suffused with references to numerous films, TV shows, books, and other forms of pop culture. After all, the show itself began life as co-creator Justin Roiland's skewed riff on "Back to the Future," and co-creator Dan Harmon's previous series as showrunner, "Community," was continually pushing the envelope when it came to parodying and homaging films.
Yet the fact that "Rick and Morty" is now in its sixth season means that the show has to keep digging deeper for homages and references that not only haven't been done to death, but that the series itself hasn't attempted yet. Despite the show's science fiction premise, "Rick and Morty" is no stranger to horror, with episodes like season 1's "Rick Potion No. 9," season 2's "Total Rickall" and season 4's "Promortyus" all riffing on horror creatures and tropes.
Yet those episodes involve sci-fi/horror concepts,...

The long-awaited release of World of Warcraft Classic‘s Wrath of the Lich King update is finally here. As players prepare to dive back into one of WoW‘s most beloved expansions (or play through it for the first time), the question on many minds is simply “Which WoTLK class is the best of them all?”
As is usually the case, it’s kind of hard to answer that question. Not only does every WoTLK class (and specialization) bring something special to the game, but how much you get out of a class tends to depend on how much you understand that class. A great player at a “bad” class can often outperform a bad player at a “great” class. That’s very important to...

If you think of iconic ’90s albums, a few may come to mind. Perhaps you’re a rap fan and go for Biggie’s “Ready to Die” or Nas’s “Illmatic.” If you’re more of a heavy rocker, there’s Nirvana’s “Nevermind,” and if you’re into more alternative records then Radiohead’s “Ok Computer” and Fiona Apple’s “Tidal” are probably on your list. However, much like records like “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” or Oasis‘s “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory,” one answer that you might hear coming from any avid consumer regardless of genre preference is Alanis Morissette’s “Jagged Little Pill.” The pop-rock record is widely hailed as one of the best of the ’90s and, sometimes, ever. Among its many honors, it won Album of the Year at the 1996 Grammys.

“I can take five years off ‘cause my shit is timeless,” claims Joey Bada on “The Baddest,” the opener to his third official album, 2000. The Brooklyn rapper takes pains to assert that he’s only leveled up since. No, he doesn’t mention his breakout acting performance in the second season of Mr. Robot, or his current stints on Grown-ish and Power Book III: Raising Kanan. He also doesn’t try to replicate the success of his double-platinum hit, 2016’s melodic-rap delight “Devastated.” However, he talks a lot about making “eight figures.

Maxime Saada, the chairman and CEO of Canal+ Group and chair of its film and TV subsidiary Studiocanal, has joined the management board of Vivendi.
The arrival of Saada within Vivendi’s management board is part of the company’s recent strategic moves and underscores its ambition to continue growing its international scope and focus on content, media and communications. The management board, which remains chaired by Arnaud de Puyfontaine (who is also CEO), welcomed several other new members alongside Saada.

European film-tv powerhouse Studiocanal and The Picture Company are developing “Bedroom Window,” adapting the novel that inspired Curtis Hanson’s 1987 movie, with scribe Abby Ajayi set to write the script, the latest project from one of the most productive of Europe-u.S. film production alliances.
Hanson’s original movie forms part of the nearly 6,000-title film library at Studiocanal whose exploitation is a strategic priority for Studiocanal, owned by Vivendi’s Canal Plus Group.
The Picture Company partners Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman will produce “Bedroom Window” under their overall deal at Studiocanal.
Based on Anne Holden’s novel “The Witnesses,” Hanson’s original film follows a man who goes to bed with his boss’ wife. During the tryst, she observes from his bedroom window a violent attack on a young woman. He goes to the police on his lover’s behalf to report a crime he didn’t actually witness.

Busan-set chase thriller “Hard Hit” this weekend became the first local film to head the South Korean box office in more than a month. It earned $2.27 million in its opening weekend.
The arrival of a significant, commercial film from Korea may be a sign of growing confidence that the return to business of the seriously dented exhibition and distribution sectors is now gaining momentum.
For much of this year audiences in Korea have stayed away from cinemas leaving admissions and box office at a small fraction of pre-pandemic levels. That in turn has caused the delay or abandonment of the releases of many local titles. For the past month the only major film releases in Korea have been Hollywood franchise movies enjoying global rollouts now that North American theatrical business has been restarted.
The nationwide weekend total of $7.14 million was, narrowly, the biggest box office weekend of the year. That...

It feels like decades since our last (brilliant) PPV WWE TLC 2020. Since then the horror show known as 2020 came to a welcome end, we have had Christmas, New Year and more lockdowns! Oh joy! But thank goodness it is time for the road to (another two-night) WrestleMania to commence and it begins with one of the most anticipated shows of the WWE year in the Royal Rumble. Now, if you’ve been keeping up with WWE, people have been saying (after some ratings success and good matches) that Smackdown is WWE’s A-Show but frankly I’m not always in 100% agreement. For me the shows flip every so few weeks. For instance, I had grown a tad irritated by the one-sidedness of the Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens Universal Championship rivalry (which seemed set to culminate in a title Last Man Standing match on this night) – although the way WWE...

Film and TV productions in Germany have come back with gusto following the three-month Covid-19 lockdown earlier this year, albeit under stringent health protection requirements.
Despite a second lockdown in November due to the rise in coronavirus cases, shooting continues around the country, both in studios and on location. Warners’ “Matrix 4,” Sony’s “Uncharted,” Apple TV Plus’ “Foundation” and the Netflix pic “Munich” are among the big international productions that have recently shot in Germany.
At Studio Babelsberg, “Matrix 4” and “Uncharted” recently wrapped after being initially shut down in March. “We are happy that we were able to carry out both productions without any major incidents in the very difficult period after the lockdown and that everything went wonderfully,” says Studio Babelsberg COO Christoph Fisser.

Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s big-screen adaptation of Rokuro Inui’s novel A Perfect Day for Plesiosaur marks the director’s slow transition from horrors like “Cure” and “Retribution” to more recent dramas including 2017’s “Before We Vanish” and “To the Ends of the Earth.” In this genre mashup of thriller, science fiction, drama, romance, and monster movie, Kurosawa creates an experience which is bound to be bizarre and disorienting, even for viewers who are accustomed to his surreal style.
The story revolves around Koichi Fujita, a neurologist with access to new and innovative technology, trying to access the depths of his comatose lover’s mind. Atsumi Kazu is a manga artist who had attempted to kill herself the year before, after a negative experience with writer’s block, and has been unconscious ever since. At last. After a star-spangled American Film Market lineup this year was met by an initial near deafening silence from buyers, European film-tv group Studiocanal confirmed Wednesday that it has pre-sold the world, apart from the U.S. and China, on Liam Neeson action thriller “Retribution.”
A second new Studiocanal title, Working Title romantic comedy “What’s Love Got to Do With It?” with Lily James and Emma Thompson, has closed near all of Europe and Japan, also placing it among the best-selling AFM titles.
Among AFM trading, the deals add to AGC Studios’ near worldwide pre-sales on “Universe’s Most Wanted” and half the world sales sweeps for Cornerstone’s “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande,” Mister Smith’s “Lakewood” and Elle Driver’s “See For Me.” Otherwise, major AFM sales announcements, to date at least, have been few and pretty piecemeal.

Six years after “Cure” solidified Kiyoshi Kurosawa as a maestro of slow-burn horror, the director does a victory lap with “Retribution.” It might not amount to his J-horror masterpiece, but feels equally dreadful and haunting.
Noboru Yoshioka is a detective who finds himself wrapped up in a mysterious murder case after the corpse of an unknown woman in a red dress is discovered at a Tokyo waterfront. Not much later, Yoshioka visits the scene of the crime and hears screaming but cannot pinpoint where it is coming from. As more evidence begins to turn up within the course of a few days, Yoshioka is terrified to discover that the only viable suspect is himself, even though he has no recollection of doing anything.
As is characteristic of Kurosawa’s directorial style, the mystery in “Retribution” does not solve itself, but merely becomes more surreal and psychologically complex as it progresses.

Liam Neeson is 68 years old. In the United States, that would make him retirement age and would guarantee him discounts at restaurants and hotels. But don’t let the actor’s age fool you. Neeson is still an action star. Honestly, he might be one of the most reliable action stars on the planet, right now. And that’s not ending anytime soon, as he just signed up for his latest project, “Retribution.”
