The 76th Emmy Awards were dominated by a handful of cable and streaming series that each put out 10 episodes or fewer.

There was nothing unusual or unexpected about that, of course.

In fact, other than Hacks triumphing over The Bear in the Outstanding Comedy Series category, the night was pretty much devoid of surprises.

The Dominance of FX Came as No Surprise

As we predicted, Shogun and The Bear dominated the evening, and most of the other series that took home hardware also stuck with the eight-to-10 episode format that the Academy favors these days.

Again, none of this came as any sort of shock.

In fact, you’d have to go all the way back to 2006 to find the last time that a broadcast show that aired 20-plus episodes took home the prize for Outstanding Drama.

We can reveal Banijay Group-owned drama house Groenlandia and Fidelio are making Antonia, in collaboration with Prime Video. The series will form part of the streamer’s latest slate, which is due to be unveiled today in Rome. Each episode will be a half-hour.

Rapper Drake encouraged Nelly Furtado’s musical comeback. Nelly, 44, revealed that fellow Canadian Drake, 36, – who invited her to be a surprise guest for his All-Canadian North Stars event in Toronto last summer – reminded her about her legacy and value to the music industry and urged her to get back in the studio to work on new music.

She told Variety: “I have more gratitude nowadays, so I know how blessed I am to be a performer and creator. I’m really leaning into my profession. I met Drake a year ago and we had some deep conversations about life and art and he blew up my head reminding me what a valuable artist I am and told me to ‘boss up’ and make new music, and I listened. This will be streaming on Pv in May, telling the story of many riders and people involved in this intense and dangerous sport. The Ride follows an ensemble cast of bull riders and coaches throughout the Pbr Team Series, as they navigate the league's inaugural 2022 season, budding rivalries, exhilarating highs, and the challenging lows of Pbr’s newest team-based competition. The Pbr (aka Professional Bull Riders) organization launched a brand new format last year, and this doc is made up of all the footage they shot on that first year. I'm sure many didn't even realize bull riding was still an ongoing professional sport, but it absolutely is. This is also covered in Chloe Zhao's excellent film called The Rider.

It’s time to saddle up. Hallmark Channel has revealed that its new rodeo-focused drama series Ride will debut in late March, immediately after The Way Home season finale.

Ride will premiere on Sunday, March 26 at 9 p.m. Et on Hallmark Channel, the network revealed in a tweet.

The multi-generational family drama stars Nancy Travis of Three Men and a Baby and The Kominsky Method; Awkward and Good Trouble alum Beau Mirchoff; and Tiera Skovbye from Riverdale and the Canadian TV series Nurses. The cast also includes Sara Garcia (The Flash), Jake Foy (Hallmark’s A Little Daytime Drama), Marcus Rosner (Hallmark’s Romance to the Rescue), and Tyler Jacob Moore (Shameless), TV Insider reports.

The cable network announced Tuesday that it will offer viewers a special event night with a double dose of primetime drama on Sunday, March 26.

The big night kicks off with the highly-anticipated season finale of its critically acclaimed, hit multigenerational family drama series The Way Home.

The freshman drama moves to an earlier time slot of 8 p.m. Et/Pt.

After The Way Home wraps its run, we'll be introduced to the new drama series, Ride, at 9 p.m. Et/Pt. 

Ride follows the intertwined lives of a rodeo family dynasty.

Andie MacDowell, Chyler Leigh, Evan Williams, and Sadie Laflamme-Snow (The Apprentice) star in The Way Home, which premiered Sunday, January 15, and has become a runaway hit for the cable network.

Over its first three episodes, The Way Home grew from its premiere to become cable's #1 program on Sundays.

Hallmark Channel will start one new series just as another ends its freshman run, when the rodeo drama Ride premieres the same night as The Way Home‘s finale.

On Sunday, March 26, Hallmark’s recently launched multigenerational family/time travel drama The Way Home (starring Andie MacDowell and Chyler Leigh) will air its season finale in an earlier-than-usual time slot, at 8/7c. Ride will then gallop onto your screens, with its series premiere at 9 pm.
