Oppenheimer continued its dominant awards season form on Sunday night at the American Society of Cinematographers’ ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards, with Hoyte van Hoytema taking the prize for theatrical feature film.

Van Hoytema topped a field that included Edward Lachman for “El Conde, Matthew Libatique for “Maestro,” Rodrigo Prieto for “Killers of the Flower Moon” and Robbie Ryan for “Poor Things.”

Exclusive: Evette Vargas and producing partner Ricardo Reyes on Thursday announced the launch of Indigo Reign Films, a new full-service production company based out of Los Angeles.

Indigo Reign will focus on elevated projects with social impact and multicultural representation, producing stories in the U.S., Mexico, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Spain. The company will be active across film, television, commercials, podcasts, interactive, gaming, and music videos. Vargas and Reyes will serve as co-CEOs, with Emmy-winning cinematographer Jimmy A. Velarde, composer-producer The Angel and line producer Noah A. Waters III also on the team.

“Having met at UCLA grad school, Ricardo and I are thrilled to realize our dream of founding Indigo Reign Films. We’re building a new pipeline to develop, produce, market, and distribute stories – both our own and client projects,” Vargas told Deadline.

Reyes added that what sets the company part is the duo’s process.

Prolific comedy writer Andy Riley, along with his writing partner Kevin Cecil, has written for numerous comedy shows including Trigger Happy TV, So Graham Norton, Smack the Pony, The Armando Iannucci Shows, Black Books, Harry and Paul, Big Bad World and Veep. They also created and wrote the underrated Matt Berry sitcom Year of The Rabbit for Channel 4.

The society’s marquee Theatrical Feature Film nominees are chock-full of awards-season favorite pics, with one surprise. Edward Lachman is up for the Netflix pic El Conde, joining the likes of Matthew Libatique for Maestro, Rodrigo Prieto for Killers of the Flower Moon, Robbie Ryan for Poor Things, Hoyte van Hoytema for Oppenheimer.

Exclusive: Coming off a two-season starring role on Fox’s drama The Cleaning Lady, Oliver Hudson is staying in business with the network. The actor-producer has entered a broadcast direct deal with Fox Entertainment for him and his producing partner John Stalberg to develop comedy and drama projects that will be fully owned and distributed by Fox.

Hudson played one of the leads, FBI agent Garrett Miller, in The Cleaning Lady, co-produced by Warner Bros. TV and Fox Entertainment. The popular character was killed off in the Season 2 finale, which aired earlier this year.

Hudson already has a pre-existing relationship with Fox as a producer. Daddy Issues, the podcast hosted by NFL announcer Joe Buck and The Cleaning Lady star Oliver Hudson, is being developed into a TV series.

Fox is developing an animated sitcom based on the podcast.

It reunites Buck with Fox, where he previously served as an NFL and MLB announcer between 1994 and 2022 before moving to ESPN to cover Monday Night Football.

The series, which is in development with a script commitment, is an ensemble buddy comedy inspired by the podcast that follows the true-life experiences of best friends, Joe Buck and Oliver Hudson, as they try to survive the numerous minefields that come with being dads, husbands and best friends.

The Disney+ comedy’s Sept. 8 episode opened with magician Donny Blaze (played by Entourage‘s Rhys Coiro) pulling Madisynn (Florida Girls‘ Patty Guggenheim) from the audience as a volunteer and then sending her into an interdimensional portal that the Mystic Arts dropout opened with his sling ring. Some time later, Madisynn fell through another portal into Wong’s (MCU vet Benedict Wong) Kamar-Taj crib, where she promptly spoiled his bingeing of The Sopranos.

Exclusive: Erin and Sara Foster, the stars of VH1’s reality TV parody series Barely Famous, are getting into podcasting.

The duo, who are under an overall deal at 20th Television, are launching The World’s First Podcast with Erin & Sara Foster.

The series, which launches on May 6, will feature conversations ranging in topic from friendship, investing, and dating to aging, religion, motherhood, infertility, grief and more. Erin and Sara will discuss what’s going on in their lives, hear from their listeners, and chat with guests like Kris Jenner, Rabbi Steve Leder and relationship expert Tracy McMillan.

The pair will be executive produce the audio series with Allison Bresnick through Wishbone Production.

Erin Foster wrote, starred in, and executive produced with Liz Meriwether the 20th TV-produced Daddy Issues comedy which was ordered to pilot by Fox in 2018. Sara Foster was a producer on the project, which also starred Don Johnson.

"You're always funny." Gravitas Ventures has debuted an official trailer for an indie romantic comedy titled Daddy Issues, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Laura Holliday. Not to be confused with the other indie dramedy also titled Daddy Issues. This film originally premiered at the Valley Film Festival in 2018 and is only getting released this summer. When her emotionally distant father dies and leaves her his company, a 20-something, hapless stand-up comic named Henri must move from London to Los Angeles to take over the family business and somehow try to win her father’s approval, even after his death. "Henri finds humor in her darkest moments in this quirky slice-of life black comedy. That is, after all, how the light gets in." Starring Kimberley Datnow along with Tanner Rittenhouse, Alice Carroll Johnson, and Francis Lloyd Corby. Another of these strangely personal films that really doesn't have much to say at all.

Exclusive: Gravitas Ventures has picked up North American rights to three movies from Concourse Media: board game doc Gamemaster, music film Find Your Groove and low-budget rom-com Daddy Issues.

Gamemaster, currently set for a July release, dives into the world of the board game industry and hones in on five game designers who have had big success or are trying to break through. Talking heads include Klaus Teuber (The Settlers of Catan), Matt Leacock and Elan Lee (Exploding Kittens). The film is directed by Charles Mruz and produced by Jimmy Nguyen, Wally Schrass, Kristopher Wile, Jason Rose and Jennifer Tocquigny.
