At the press conference for the movie's world premiere in Berlin, Jian Liu mentioned that he was not completely happy with the Chinese title the movie premiered with, "Hao jile" ("Excellent"), and was more proud of the English title he had given it, "Have a Nice Day", feeling it particularly appropriate because it alludes to how the events of the whole movie all occur within 24 hours.
Later in the same year, ahead of the movie's first public screenings in any Chinese-speaking region, he changed the Chinese title to "Dashijie" ("Big world").
