Leonardo DiCaprio: Most Wanted! (2021)
A collection of unsubstantiated opinions of a good actor
The German commentators too often go out on a limb with their uninformed and overinflated opinions of Leo and the various roles he adopts as an actor. A lot of flowery language with adjectives found from a Thesaurus and a lot of assumptions that Leo was just a pretty boy who needed to prove he could act. I am pretty sure he knows his good work and does need an Oscar that desparately. Even without an Oscar, his body of work speaks for itself. We do not need overimaginative opinions of commentators in the documentary based on nothing but their flights of fancy. A better documentary would look at the facts of each role and just present that. Almost like each documentary commentator wanted to be a movie star! It is more like a tabloid article than a real documentary!
War Gamers (2022)
Interesting Untold Story but needs Better Historical Balance
It was interesting to see the different strategies evolve. The wolf pack of U-boats would have been impossible to counter without good strategies. The women at WATU (Western Approaches Tactical Unit) used their analytical skills to simulate U-Boat movements and develop effective anti-submarine tactics.
However, while the expertise and efforts of war gamers and experienced naval staff were vital components of the Allied effort against the U-boats, the decryption of Enigma messages provided the intelligence necessary to effectively counter the U-boat threat and ultimately contributed significantly to the Allies' success in the Battle of the Atlantic.
Given the importance of decrypted Enigma information in the Battle of the Atlantic, it's likely that a series like "U-boat Wargamers" should account for the role of Bletchley Park in providing intelligence to Allied forces. The decrypted Enigma messages provided crucial insights into German U-boat movements, tactics, and plans, enabling Allied naval forces to better anticipate and counter the U-boat threat.
Although U-Boat Wargamers doesn't delve into Bletchley Park specifically, it underscores the importance of intelligence and strategic thinking in countering U-Boat attacks. The WRENS, alongside their colleagues, contributed to the development of tactics that outwitted U-Boat wolfpacks.
The Way Back (2020)
Great Movie about encouraging team work
It was an entertaining movie about teamwork and the closeness between the coach and the players is key. He built up the team from almost nothing.
One of them more annoying weaker points was the big hoo hah over by the school admin over a bit of alcohol on the coaches breath when a little support and understanding would have saved a lot of grief. It seems that he is supposed to be superhuman and perfect when not getting any support from what seem to be fairweather friends - he's only important when he helps other people but he gets no support when he needs it. It really is a little morally lopsided in that respect. A realistic more positive story would be less about doing it all yourself and getting help from a supportive environment. Maybe this is typically USA - everyone is supposed to be superhuman - and not supposed to get support and get criticised when they fail. The weakness of this part of the story is so obvious. And at the end Ben who is really the hero of the story, has to take all the blame for failing when no-one else admits they failed to support him. Too lame for words! Ben is great - the sscript is too 1D and limited in this blame the hero mould!
Chicago (2002)
Easily the Worst Movie I've Ever Seen
This movie has no soul, no real story, and rather lame musical numbers. It felt very unoriginal and the story lacked any depth. The delivery of the music and songs and dancing in Chicago lacked emotional depth! It was like everyone was going through their lines and actions without any conviction (pun intended). It is hard to believe this musical won any Oscars at all. Compared to Moulin Rouge, Chicago was nominated 129 times for 58 wins whereas Moulin Rouge was nominated 133 times for 87 wins. Maybe one needs to be very cynical of heart to like this poor excuse for a movie and even poorer excuse for a musical.
