An obscure Hong Kong production. The last of the Police Tactical Unit series. Not brilliant like the original movie (directed by Johnnie To). Still, educational for those unfamiliar with the Hong Kong underworld.
Brawny young men form the muscular shock troops of the Hong Kong Police Force. Working in teams, the Tactical Units patrol the streets. Using strong arm tactics to intimidate the street gangs and powerful traids. As well as running to the scene of robberies and mayhem.
Westerners may be appalled by the confrontational and violent illegal methods of some PTU teams. But, the government uses these violent men in uniform to remind the underworld that there are predators more dangerous than the criminals.
This movie is directed by Lawrene Lau. Less hardcore than Johnnie To, this director offers a sympathetic look at the PTU teams; as well as the discrimination suffered by South Asians in Hong Kong. Nonetheless, this movie offers lots of violence (viewers be warned).
