"Hot Stuff" is an odd sort of cop film. It's sort of like a comedy and a drama put together and it was directed by, of all people, Dom DeLuise. I generally enjoyed it but feel like the film might have worked better simply being a drama or more of a comedy.
Two Miami detectives who work to bust thieves and fences some upon a good idea. After arresting one fence, they agree to drop the charges IF he leaves town for a month. And, during that month, they run the business...all the while video and audiotaping the thieves selling their ill-gotten goods to them. Much of it is pretty routine, but run-ins with the mob and some guys selling machine guns really make you wonder if they'll live to see the end of the month!
This is an enjoyable film. I just think a few times the comedy was a bit too dopey (such as the guys with machine guns who couldn't hit anything) though it also had some very nice moments. Not a great film by any stretch but a decent movie if you want something different. Plus, cheesy as it can be, it IS likable and fun.

This trash film is about three college freshmen who are sexy ladies who work on martial arts in their time off...and strip at night. Their goal is to get great grades and then transfer to an Ivy League college...yeah, right! It's very low budgeted, sleazy, filled with gratuitous nudity* and pretty much whatever else you'd expect from a film called "Ninja Cheerleaders". What I did NOT expect to see George Takei in this crapfest...that was a surprise but apparently he really needed the money or they were holding Brad hostage and made George appear in the film for his safe return.
The plot is pretty simple. Aside from going to classes, working out with their martial arts and stripping, the ladies are called into action when their sensei (Takei) is kidnapped...unleashing these cute girls' less cute sides. And, as a result, there are a LOT of folks who get beatdowns from these women.
The film has a direct to video look to it...like it was made with a home videocamera. The acting is generally poor and the story generally silly...and a navy man with a hippie hairdo (in WHAT navy does he serve?!). Is there anything good about it? No...plus it's just not that fun to watch...even for bad movie lovers. Even the martial arts are bad...with most of the kicking looking like stuff even your grandma could do.
*Often the nudity occurs as one scene transitions to another...with very brief glimpses of breasts. Oddly, when they strip the women keep nearly all of their clothing on...which makes it a pretty lame stripclub.

When the story begins, Lois Hargreaves receives a box of chocolates in the mail. Soon, everyone who ate one becomes sick...as the chocolates were laced with arsenic...not enough to kill but certainly enough to make you ill. However, instead of going to the police, Lois is foolish and goes to see Tommy and Tuppence. I say foolish because she really doesn't seem to be taking this very seriously...when it could have been deadly.
When Tommy and Tuppence arrive at Ms. Hargreaves mansion, they learn she is dead. They assume they know who the murderer is...but he, too, died shortly after her. So who IS the killer and why did they do it? It's up to the couple to find out...though it's mostly Tuppence who gets to the bottom of it.
Tommy is pretty pretentious in this one...dropping all sorts of French into his speech in order to sound 'continental'. I think it just made him sound like a jerk...but at least Tuppence was better behaved for once. Overall, despite this, a very good episode with a fiery conclusion.
