The Conjuring 2 (2016)
Genuinely spooky sequel
The Conjuring 2 is certainly a strong installment into the (hopefully) Conjuring series. Following the further cases of Ed and Lorraine Warren, the film takes us through one of the most famous hauntings in history - the Enfield Poltergeist.
The scares in this film are genuine (no cheap jump scares here!) with a particularly compelling story based on the true events that occurred in Enfield, England during the 70's. The tension that builds up during scenes is quite incredible, the imagery used to portray the demon that stalks the characters is pretty disturbing.
Of course, being a movie, The Conjuring 2 takes liberties with the "true story", which is especially obvious during the film's climax, but the whole film is competent enough to suspend your disbelief. I walked away and wanted to find out more about the true story, which I recommend you look up (Not for the film's sake but just because it's an interesting story in itself)! Overall, a strong, competent horror sequel with some genuine creepy thrills and a compelling story. Worth a watch!
Doctors (2000)
I'm not really sure how this is still going...
Doctors is a long-running (somehow) BBC series and is possibly worst they have to offer. I know I'm flogging a dead horse here, but any piece of television with terrible acting, amateur camera work, absurdly clichéd story lines, and a seriously low-budget feel deserves a good slating.
I understand it's only a bit of daytime TV, something to have on in the background as you're occupied with other menial tasks, but they could've at least put a bit of effort in! I think it's time to pull the plug. Am I being too harsh? Hmm, possibly, but it really is bad. I'm sure there are worse shows out there, and this is just a harmless (but terrible) one... but a bit of effort wouldn't be missed.
