hey guys! Looking for some suggestions on where to go next for a big ice fishing trip. Looking for the next of the best places! Not looking for someone’s honey hole but a new experience. I’ve done some big trips including cascade, Winnipeg, LOTW, most of ND. Just looking for something exciting and quality fish opportunities. I’m ready for anything and would love to hear your suggestions! Rough and rugged, near or far, no problem!

I’ve heard mixed reviews on fun levels but airboat perching on Mississippi River Lacrosse WI area might fit your bill .

One fella said all they did was chase tip downs all day but the other I talked to said it was fun .

Based on your list looks like next up is either Fort Peck lakers or last mountain lake in sask for giant everything.

I’m a little biased but Rainy Lake is one that often gets over looked. The possibilities out there are endless and you can go a whole day without seeing another person.

Rainy would be a fun time for sure.

Clearwater lake by The Pas MB for giant lakers. Could hit Barbie lake next door for big rainbows.

Nipigon if you’re feeling real adventurous.

Have you ever fished either of these lakes? We stayed at and fished clearwater lake in June a few years ago. We caught LOTS of lakers but none of the monster ones the lake is know for. We did see a few big ones caught though. That time of the year the way they fish them is rather specific. Most who fish for the monsters there are fishing in a way where they get rather limited bites. We ended up making the drive to Reed most of the day when we stayed on Clearwater. I spoke to someone at Reed lake last year who made a day trip to Barbe lake and said the trout fishing was Great. Said they have some monster Brook and lake trout. On our next trip to reed I’d like to take a day trip over to fish Barbe

Did the airboat thing on the Missisippi backwaters last year. It was novel but wouldn’t do it again.
It was an expensive trip just to yank 9″-12″ perch out of 4 foot of water.

I have not been to Clearwater or barbe. Clearwater has been on my bucket list for ice fishing since before wiebe started filming there. I go to nipigon or isle royale in the summer if I want big lakers. I thought it was bows in Barbie not brookies?

I have been to nipigon a few times and will be going up again this summer. Such an awesome lake. I don’t think there is much ice fishing up there due to access but man that’d be a sweet lake to fish in the winter.

Wife and I are doing LOTW out of Kenora for a 3 night stay in an Ice Castle in early February. The outfitter does his own ice road and provides everythimg but bait and food

Im up in Canada and Clearwater is an amazing trip to do in the winter. Last trip we got 4 master anglers. Two over 41″
Last Mountain Lake is great as well..my first 2 walleye of this winter season were a 30 and 31″ fish…that being said its a tough lake to fish..and big fish aren’t happening like lake Winnipeg where its easy to get a 30″.
Lake Athap just north of Clearwater has big trout as well but hasn’t been mapped out yet (the big lake)
