Kalyani on her parents Priyadarshan and Lissy's divorce: It was a shock, but now we are at peace
Kalyani Priyadarshan, in a recent interview, opened up about her parents Lissy and Priyadarshan's divorce and how it affected her family.
Kalyani Priyadarshan, daughter of legendary filmmaker Priyadarshan and actress Lissy, is all set to make her acting debut in Kollywood with actor Sivakarthikeyan's Hero. Directed by PS Mithran, the film is touted to be a superhero flick that touches upon the subject of education. The film is all set to hit the theatres worldwide on December 20 across the globe.
Ahead of the film's release, Kalyani, in an interview to The Hindu, spoke about her parents' divorce and how it affected her entire family. Calling it as a huge shock, the Hello actress stated that they are at peace now and most importantly, happy.
Elaborating more about Lissy and Priyadarshan's divorce, she said, "It always takes a toll. It is not like [divorce] will never affect anybody. But I applaud my parents for they never really put us in hell. Whatever, emotionally, they were going through... they made sure they never took that out at home. Obviously, [the split] was a shock, but today we are all the happiest we could be... we are at peace, and I think my relationship with my parents are much stronger now. That is the most important thing."
In 2016, Lissy and Priyadarshan ended their 24-year-long relationship as the Chennai family court granted them the divorce. The actress, in a press release, revealed that the divorce was problematic and respectless.
Stating that the divorce was ugly as their marriage, Lissy, in an old interview to Times of India, said, "This is the end of a long and often very difficult road. All of us can now move on. I thank all my lawyers, friends and well-wishers for their unconditional support and prayers. I am grateful to both my children for all their love affection and support."
