Yarn
"Yarn"
BOND/360

The upcoming poetic documentary “Yarn” follows different artists who are redefining the tradition of knitting and crochet for newer generations, bringing it out of the homes and into the world. The film introduces us to characters from four different countries, each who use yarn in very different ways. Their view of the world is reflected through their work as they travel the world spreading their love and passion. But each character has one thing in common: They all work with their hands trying to engage with their respective environments, hoping to use art to help people view the world in a different light.

Aided by animation to illustrate some of the stories, along with beautiful artwork and original music, “Yarn” tries to showcase how bringing the world together to involve themselves in a tactile craft can help promote peace and harmony in greater society. Watch an exclusive clip from the film below featuring children playing in a yarn playground structure, providing them the freedom to safely explore a piece of interactive art.

“Yarn” screened at this year’s South by Southwest Film Festival. It first opened in New York on June 24th at the IFC Center. The film opens in Los Angeles this weekend and runs from July 15th through the 21st. For more information on other screenings nationwide, go to the film’s website.
