Major Adams continues with his memories at the site of Ranie Webster's grave. He recounts the wagon train journey with friends Bill and Emily Hawks. The Hawks try to help Adams woo Ranie, but she has a terrible secret that she is hiding from him.

Old-timer, Parsley Smith, who is a constant liar, comes to Dodge City and starts spreading rumors about the new banker, Drew Holt. He claims that Holt is plotting to make off with the depositors' money.

Guest Star James Drury. Handsome hired hand, Booth Rider, becomes an unknowing pawn in a murder scheme planned by a rancher's wife. She wants Rider to kill her husband, however, an ironic twist of fate occurs.

Slim takes an injured Jonesy into Laramie. Glen Bentley, part of a wagon train, is upset over the price to repair a wagon wheel and attacks an unarmed blacksmith. Later, Slim is forced to shoot Bentley, a decision which puts him in grave danger.

Cheyenne finds a wounded man in Mexico and takes him to a doctor in a local village. Once he arrives, he learns that a dangerous bandit is there to avenge two of his men's deaths by destroying the village.

Guest Star Burt Reynolds. A half Comanche named Quint Asper joins his mother's tribe in order to kill white men and avenge for the death of his father. Matt Dillon sees the good in him and wants to re-integrate him into society.

Aggie Dutton, the daughter of a drifter, attempts to lure Chester into marriage by fabricating a story. When Matt Dillon intervenes into Aggie's plans, she admits to her pa that she storied Chester.

Ex-Colonel Josiah Johnson is now the town drunk in Dodge City. Carl asks Josiah to watch his store while he leaves to get his bride-to-be, Anne Johnson. The store catches fire and Josiah decides to leave, knowing Anne is his estranged daughter.

Marshal Matt Dillon and prisoner Gristy Calhoun encounter Indians in the badlands. The Indians intend to leave a squaw named Quanah in the desert to die as they think she is bad luck. However, her help is vital when the other outlaws find them.

Zeb attempts to lead a boy to safety and then return to the Arikara Indian camp to rescue the boy's father. Meanwhile, the Macahan family is under attack by hostile Indians and Luke's girl may join him on the trail.
