John Deere to build engines in China
01 June 2011
John Deere is to deepen its footprint in China with a new US$ 60 million engine factory in the Tianjin Economic and Development Area.
The manufacturer said the plant - its sixth engine factory worldwide - could start production in late 2013. John Deere also manufactures engines in Argentina, France, India, Mexico and the US.
Samuel Allen, chairman and CEO of Deere & Company, said, "This engine factory will allow John Deere to deliver increased technology for China customers while leveraging enterprise investments and engineering resources in China".
And senior vice president of John Deere Power Systems, Jean Gilles, said the company believes integrating John Deere engines into its own equipment provides a competitive advantage.
"Our customers have a highly integrated machine and they experience improved performance for fuel economy, emissions and noise reduction," Mr Gilles said.
