Back in the Summer on the occasional break between weddings, we found ourselves in from of the idiots lantern staring at some people doing a spot of decorating.
On one such occasion, Alan Carr and his bunch of intrepid painters were on location at Wotton House Hotel near Dorking in Surrey to turn some rooms into a slightly different colour. Aired back in the Spring of 2022 the hotel featured on Series 3, episode 2 of Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr.

A few months later, we found ourselves at the same venue but in our role as JAM Duo obviously!
The Wedding
Katy and James
Wotton House Hotel, Surrey
Saturday 26 November 2022
Our brief today was to provide music for the wedding ceremony which took place in a splendid room inside the main hotel. Whilst this may not have been a space which was decorated by the Interior Design Masters team, it was stunning in its own right!

We were guided by the staff to setting up at the back of the room which was ideal as today we were also using our gloss black piano shell.

Around 20 minutes before the ceremony was due to start, the guests were arriving to take their seats in readiness. For this purpose we always play before the ceremony usually 15-20 minutes. Katy and James had chosen some lovely music for this and also for their ceremony.

The Venue
For 400 years, Wotton House has done things differently. Once home to the John Evelyn, a botanist and arboriculture expert, he was passionate about the role of plants in our diets, lived as a vegetarian and was considered a pioneer of his time. This sense of eccentricity lives on at Wotton and you have see the Evelyn family history still present in the hotel today.
From the 17th century Italian gardens – the first in England – to the pillared library, you’ll discover something unexpected and delightful at every turn. What’s remained throughout the centuries is a sense of warmth, charm and individuality.
