Welcome to JustAnswer. Thank you for contacting us for assistance with your vehicle. I'm Pete. I will be happy to assist you with your question. May I ask to whom I have the pleasure of speaking with today?
Hello Dallas. Nice to hear from you today! I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem. I know this can be frustrating.
Was anything done to your vehicle that may have caused this issue to occur before the problem started?
Have you had the vehicle inspected for any damage?
Thank you for your reply and that information as this does help me better understand the situation.
Please give me one moment to type out some info for you. I’ll be right back!
Thank you for holding Dallas!
The messages or alerts that are coming up indicate that the brake computer has detected a fault with one of the braking components. I suspect the hole you hit may have damaged a wheel speed sensor or another brake sensor.
In order to be able to determine which component is at fault what needs to be done is to have a fully compatible scan tool plugged into your vehicle's data port that can read all of the computers in your vehicle to see if any fault codes are stored with this issue. Once this has been done, any codes that come up can then be diagnosed to help pinpoint and repair this issue. This will require the use of a high-end scan tool that can read all of your vehicle's computers.
If you do not have a scan tool to check the fault codes yourself a shop or dealer can check the fault codes as well as diagnose the issue for about a 1-hour labor charge ( around $100 ). The cost to repair the problem varies as it depends on which component has failed that requires repair or replacement.
This has to be done in order to pinpoint the issue so it can be repaired properly from there.
O.k. if the codes are still coming up for the wheel speed sensor then I suspect it was damaged and has to be replaced. It is also a good idea to have the wiring checked leading from the sensor for any wiring issues that need to be repaired.
Have you had the codes re checked with a fully compatible scan tool to see if any of the computers in your vehicle are setting any fault codes on the scan tool itself?
Unfortunately, we are not allowed to work on any vehicles ourselves as we can only provide assistance from here. I wish I had some better news to give you on this. You would need to locate a local shop that has experience working on this model to look into the issue for you.
If you know for sure there are no codes coming up in any of the computers and you checked the codes using a scan tool that is able to read all computers in your model then I recommend to drive the vehicle a few miles and see if the warnings turn off. In some cases, it can take some driving for the computer to see the issue is no longer occurring to turn off the warnings.
If the warnings stay on then there has to be a code stored in one of the computers in your vehicle still. If the scan tool being used is not one that can read ALL computers in your vehicle then you may not be seeing the codes in the other computers that need diagnosed to help pinpoint and repair this issue.
O.k. that sounds good!
Thanks
Were you able to obtain the fault code?
The only information I see on the U code coming up that will not clear is that it does indicate that one of the other computers has a fault code stored. If you did not have the codes checked using a high-end fully compatible scan tool that is able to read all computers this has to be done to help narrow down which another computer still has a code stored. This may require the use of a dealers computer to retrieve the code.
That should be your rear camera system if your vehicle has a rear camera setup. It shouldn't be tied into this brake warning fault. I do suspect there is another code stored in one of the other computers that will need to be diagnosed to help pinpoint and repair this issue.
If this is the only code coming up then this can indicate a fault with the rear camera system since it is tied into the video which also ties into the cruise control. This has to be diagnosed further by a shop or dealer who has experience with this model and its electronics to identify the fault to repair it properly.
Unfortunately, the only way to diagnose the video code is with a dealer's computer. If the camera is operating properly there is a chance that there is an issue with the control module for the camera system setting this code falsely.
The dealer's computer will need to be plugged in to monitor data signals from the module to determine if the module has an issue. A communication issue can definitely cause a brake warning fault.
