I have a 1999 dakota r/t and i was wondering what i would need to swap out the stock 46re transmission which is now out

is this going to be a drag truck, and you want three speed, no lock up t/c?

Well the problem that I see with that swap(other than fitment) is the fact that the 46re is electronic, and the 727/999 is not. The engine computer will miss the sensor readings that will be lost, and driveability problems are likely to result. If you live in a state that does emmissions testing it won't pass inspection either.

Well the "easiest" way would have to be to repl the pcm with one for a manual transmission truck, and get an engine wiring harness for a manual truck, then you would need to hard wire the nuetral safety/ back up lamp switch. now as for the transmission itself you would need to cut a notch in the bell housing for the crankshaft position sensor. Have a new propeller shaft made and be sure to use the correct slip yoke for the 727. these are the things I know for a fact will need to be modified, but remember that whenever you take on a project like this there will setbacks and delays, so I hope this is not to be a weekend project.
