Where the chain attaches is a thumb screw you loosen that to take the flush valve piston apart. Once the thumbscrew is removed everything slides off the threaded shaft. See attached diagram.
The method I gave is for the model you provided. I supposed it's possible the thumbscrew has seized up. Mabe if you post a good pic of the piston I might be able to see what you're talking about
