General Motors' Pontiac was a car brand intended to be GM's performance line. It was originally introduced in the 1920s as a less expensive brand than the Oakland brand, but it become more popular than Oakland and put it out of business by 1933.
Although there were several iconic models such as the Pontiac Grand Prix, the GTO and Grand Am, the company made mistakes with models such as Pontiac G8 ST and the Aztek, and it was shut down completely in 2009.
