Lisa Punch bids farewell to ABC’s Rising Star’

While Sunday marked the end of the road for Guyanese performer Lisa Punch on ‘Rising Star’, the singer left the stage on a positive note.
The promising star was eliminated after she failed to raise the wall, with her rendition of Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire.” Dressed in a playful yellow and purple dress, the singer brought charisma to the stage as she added an interesting reggae spin to the song.
Punch’s performance received the approval of expert judges Brad Paisley, Kesha and Ludacris, but it was not enough to secure her a spot in the semi- finals.
Initially, Punch gained 59 percent of the votes, 1 percent less than her fellow competitor Macy Kate.
Although Punch scored a 63% when the West Coast voted, she missed the final spot into the finals by 2%.
Following her elimination, Punch expressed thanks to her fans for the support she received during her time on the show and promised to keep working to fulfill her dreams.
On her official Facebook page Punch posted “Thanks for the love and support on Rising Star. Nevertheless, do not be discouraged because this is just the beginning of greater things in store for me and all of Guyana.”
“I’m very happy because unity was formed in my country and everyone agreed on one thing, which is to make sure that I win. I didn’t win the show but I’m a winner because I have you, the best set of people and best set of fans backing me all the way!”
“We all can live our dreams…This has been great! Thank you for coming together and supporting me the way you did!” Punch said.
The Guyana born-singer migrated to the United States last December in hopes of a better life. Known locally by the nickname “Knockout Punch,” the singer is no stranger to the stage.
She was the first and only winner of the local talent contest, “Star Guyana.” She has a number of original songs that were written and recorded locally.
The singer, who is known for taking on different genres of music and making the songs her “own”, has performed at a number of national events in Guyana and Barbados.
Before migrating to the US, the artiste held several jobs in the local entertainment sector including broadcaster, deejay and actress.
