Wisdom Form
Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ
KINGDOM HEARTS II (2005)
This form lets Sora specialize in magic and glide quickly along the ground.

Wisdom Form is a Drive Form specializing in magical attacks which appears in Kingdom Hearts II. It uses Donald Duck and consumes three of Sora's Drive Bars. It represents Sora's magic[1] and is obtained along with the Monochrome Keyblade when Sora clears Timeless River. Its emblem is a blue flame.

Design[edit]

Main article: Form:Sora

Wisdom Form turns Sora's clothing blue and black, with an emblem, resembling blue flames, on the ends of his pants and sleeves.[2] Wisdom Form changes designs depending on the world he is in:

Sora wields only one Keyblade in this form. While in Wisdom Form, specks of light float around Sora's legs. There is also a blue magical mist surrounding Sora's feet that turns into two light blue wisps, one rising from each foot, when Sora slides across landscape. Sora's ability to slide across the ground covers his entire body with him sliding across the ground on his back during some combos. The only time Sora actually stands is when he lands from a jump. These wisps circle Sora in a manner similar to a double helix when Sora is stationary.

Sora moves acrobatically in this form, spinning the Keyblade idly behind his back when not moving, and flipping around when shooting magic bullets. He also tosses the Keyblade into the air when he jumps, catching it when he reaches its height.

Mechanics[edit]

Wisdom Form is a magic-oriented form that limits Sora to one Keyblade. In this form, Sora can execute quicker magic combos with stronger finishers. Instead of attacking directly with the Keyblade, Sora shoots rapid, ranged but weak projectiles from the tip of his Keyblade. In terms of mobility, Sora skids across the ground instead of walking and has a very low jump. However, it can also slide across long distances quickly.

Wisdom Form gains experience for every Heartless defeated. Leveling up upgrades the form's Growth Ability, Quick Run, for both itself and Sora's standard form. The standard form is also granted the Auto Wisdom, MP Rage and MP Haste abilities through level ups.

Strategy[edit]

Wisdom Form is very proficient at magic, and is useful against enemies that are hard to defeat at close range, such as the Hot Rod, or have defense against physical attacks, such as Large Bodies. While in Wisdom Form, Sora glides along the ground rather than running, and becomes able to perform commands while moving. His spell casting is sped up and all his magic finishers increase in power as well and gain new, enhanced properties. Always be mindful of Reflect for defense in place of Guard, and be prepared to cast Cure, as Donald is unable to help in this manner. The Fatal Crest should be equipped when using Wisdom Form in combat, as it boosts Magic, and its Berserk Charge allows Sora to continually fire Wisdom Shot while his MP is depleted. The form's unique "Shoot" command forms many viable strategies against the Mushroom XIII, owing to the attack's range and rapid fire, but suffers from a naturally weaker damage output compared to other attacks. Make sure the party has Ethers and Elixirs to keep using stronger magic, along with MP Rage and MP Haste.

Since Wisdom Form levels by defeating Heartless, a good place to train it is the windows to the past in Timeless River, a cycle of rooms filled with weak Heartless that allow Sora to go from room to room, quickly respawning the Heartless within, while also having easy access to the World Exit for refilling the Drive Gauge and a Save Point for refilling the MP Gauge from any of the rooms. Most Heartless here can be defeated in with minimal spell casting or a few Wisdom Shots, so the best Keyblade to equip is the Oathkeeper for its Form Boost ability. Another great place to train is the city portion of the World That Never Was. Shadows appear in large numbers and are very weak, also there is a save point at the entrance of the Castle to exit the world to refill the Drive Gauge.

When using Wisdom Form for proper combat, it is best to equip Keyblades with high Magic stats, as all of Sora's attacks, including the basic Wisdom Shot, are magical in nature. Alternatively, Keyblades that boost Sora's Magic damage in one way or another, such as Bond of Flame, Mysterious Abyss, or Photon Debugger, as well as Keyblades that benefit his MP like Circle of Life, are useful as well.

Sora's Wisdom Form appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as an outfit variation for Sora. In this game, Wisdom Form's design is modified to fit Sora's Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance outfit.

  2. ^ In the original version of Kingdom Hearts II, Sora's sleeves erroneously bear Master Form's emblem. This is corrected in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix.
