Snow likely in the mountains with more limited snow on the Western Slope Saturday
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - The weekend is drawing near. This weekend offers some chill with a chance for snow on Saturday and more sun on Sunday.
Weather This Weekend
Saturday’s chance for snow is much bigger in the mountains. The valleys can get occasional, brief bouts of snow with minimal accumulation - if any. High temperatures will be in the upper mid-to-upper 30s across Western Colorado after morning lows ranging from the mid-teens to low 20s. Sunday will be partly cloudy and colder. High temperatures will be in the low-to-mid 30s with lows in the teens.
Tracking Incoming Snow
Friday will be sunny, then Friday evening will cloud up quickly. Snow will begin increasing over northwestern Colorado between 10 PM and midnight Friday night. The snow will really ramp up through 6 AM up in the mountains. We’ll be stuck beneath a blanket of gray clouds on Saturday. Some occasional snow is possible in the valleys, but most of us will more likely not get anything at all. Travel through the mountains can become difficult at times. Travel up and down the Front Range Urban Corridor, including around Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, and Pueblo can also be difficult due to heavy snow. The snow will fall through much of Saturday night and Sunday morning and then start breaking up Sunday afternoon and evening. Even then, there will be some snowy spots. Some spotty snow is possible from Montrose to Cortez on Sunday morning.
Expected Snowfall Amounts
Snowfall amounts will range from nothing along Highway 50 to an inch or two max around Montrose and Glade Park. Up to 4-6 inches of snow can fall on the Grand Mesa with 5-10 inches on and around the Elk Mountains, including Aspen. Around 5-10 inches of snow is expected on the high end in the San Juan Mountains with locally around a foot of snow. Up to 5-10 inches of snow is also possible in the central and northern mountains, though not all areas will get that much. Areas along the Front Range Urban Corridor mostly get 1-4 inches of snow with locally up to 6 inches of snow in a few spots.
Our Next 24 Hours

Low temperatures by morning will be near 15 degrees around Grand Junction, 9 degrees around Montrose, 10 degrees around Delta, 6 degrees around Crotez, and 16 degrees around Moab. Friday will be sunny and seasonably chilly. We’ll warm from mid-to-high teens at 8 PM to upper 20s and lower 30s at noon, then to low-to-mid 30s at 3 PM. High temperatures will be near 37 degrees around Grand Junction, 32 degrees around Montrose, 35 degrees around Delta, 39 degrees around Cortez, and 40 degrees around Moab.
