Matching Gifts

Employee matching gift programs are corporate giving programs in which the company matches donations made by employees to eligible nonprofit organizations. It’s an easy way to double your contribution to us!

How Matching Gifts Work

Did you know your employer might double your donation to KQED? Check to see if your employer participates in our Matching Gifts program, and your support can go twice as far.

Employee matching gift programs are corporate giving programs in which the company matches donations made by employees to eligible nonprofit organizations. Many corporations match employee donations (or the tax deductible component of your donation) to our organization.

Volunteer grant programs are corporate giving programs in which companies provide monetary donations to organizations where employees volunteer regularly. If you volunteer with us, your employer may also provide us with a grant as a way to recognize your ongoing support.

FAQs

My employer participates in a matching-gift program, but requires verification of my contribution. Where can I get the verification forms, and where do I send them?

You can get the forms from your company. There should be a link to them along with other information about this process in the lookup tool. You can then either send the forms to KQED if they have a portion for us to fill out, or you submit them directly to your company. Any additional instructions needed are usually with the forms.

How much of my donation should I ask my employer to match?

The tax deductible amount you have given to KQED in the relevant time frame.

Companies will match only the amount paid to KQED, therefore, if you paid your pledge by installments, KQED cannot verify your matching gift request until the pledge has been paid in full. Sustaining members should submit one request annually after they have made their final payment in the current calendar year. Further, some companies will also only match the tax deductible amount of your contribution. KQED will verify the tax deductible portion of your contribution.

Alternate option: Your donation minus the fair market value of any goods or services received is eligible for a match by your employer.

How do I request a matching gift or volunteer grant?

Your company should provide you with a physical or digital form to fill out. Submission instructions should also be included with the form from your company.

How is this information obtained?

Use the company look up tool and if your company is listed there should be a link to the forms or the online portal. If your company is not listed, check in with your human resources department.

What if I still have questions?

Call or email KQED if you have a question about your donation at (415) 553-2362 or [email protected]. Contact your HR department if you have questions about the process, where to get the needed forms, and who to return forms to.
