Panel discusses pros and cons of Oklahoma’s minimum wage at Cameron University
LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - An annual research forum was hosted on Thursday, Nov. 7, at Cameron University, with this year’s topic-of-interest being the pros and cons of minimum wage in Oklahoma.
With the issue being planned to be on the ballot in Oklahoma within the coming years, the panel seeks to give the opportunity for people to discuss the political implications of the proposition now, so that the economic aspects can be discussed later.
“Our primary goal is to make sure that we are giving opportunities for our students to hear from speakers who are versed on various topics where we hope they will be able to apply what they’re learning in the classroom to the research and information that’s provided to them by our panels,” said Jari Askins, Cameron University’s Interim President.
Ms. Askins continued with the statement that with how different regions and communities are across the U.S., it’s good to lay the groundwork on these ideas.
