SPOKANE CO., Wash. -- The man who burned 30% of his body running through the flames of the Oregon Road fire on August 18th is now back home in Spokane County.

Justin Knutsen is recovering next to his family in a home they are renting because theirs was destroyed in the fire.
He looks back on that day, remembering seeing first responders, knowing he would make it.
"In that moment, honestly, it was a relief that I was at an ambulance, and that was like the biggest relief -- to see firefighters and ambulance, and at that moment, I knew I was gonna be okay," said Knutsen.
Since the day the fire started, Justin has undergone many intense treatments, including a skin graft on his left hand.
"For a little bit, it was daunting to think about when I would be back or how this would even work, but this is a good step to getting back to reality," said Knutsen.
Justin said it is sometimes hard to watch videos from the fire, especially the one with the exact flames he was running through that was shared by the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.
"The first couple of times, I couldn't finish it. As soon as he went into it, I just had to push the phone away," said Knutsen. "I've been to Afghanistan. I have done some crazy stuff in my life, but that was probably the craziest thing I've been through in my life."
Now, Justin says he is focused on healing and being with his family as they start to rebuild what was lost, but when asked if he would do it all again to help his neighbors, he didn't hesitate.
"In a heartbeat. If there are people that need help, I'm on my way. It's not even a thought. I'll be there," said Knutsen.
Justin still has a ways to go in his healing and will have to wear custom coverings on his arms and legs for a while, but his prognosis is looking good.
He also shared his gratitude and thanks for all the people who have shared their love and support along his journey home.
