November 7 is celebrated as Sir Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman, more popularly known as CV Raman's birth anniversary. Born in the year 1888 in the Madras Province in India (now the state of Tamil Nadu), the Indian physicist held an important position in the world of physics. The Nobel laureate carried out some ground-breaking work in the field of light scattering for which he received the prestigious Nobel Prize in 1930 in Physics. CV Raman also became a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1924. He was knighted by the British monarch in 1929. Throughout his life, Dr CV Raman has done some commendable work in the field of Physics. He also became the first person in Asia to receive the Nobel Prize in the field of science. His discovery in the field of light scattering changed the ways of Physics. She enlightened the world that when "light traverses a transparent material, some of the deflected light changes wavelength and amplitude." His findings were so important that this phenomenon, subsequently known as "Raman scattering" results from the Raman effect. Such a Great Man
Water is colourless then why is the sea blue?
He researched, experimented, found clues
Combinational scattering of light was thus discovered and after Tagore we won the Nobel anew
