ENHYPEN is back for blood (and love) in the Bite Me music video! Premiering on May 22, 2023, at 6 PM KST, the video also marks the release of the K-pop boy group’s 4th mini album Dark Blood. Leading the tracklist as the titular entry in the lot, the continuing lore catches the 7 members of the group reprising their role as vampires yearning for love.
A total of 6 tracks have been included in the new album – Fate, Bite Me, Sacrifice (Eat Me Up), Chaconne, Bills, and Karma. The lead single has kept things on the down low this time as compared to the usual title track choices of the group like Blessed Cursed, Drunk Dazed and more. Keeping a composed and controlled pop demeanour, the song is different yet in tune with ENHYPEN’s music graph.
With a slight haunting tone, all 7 members – Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Niki – take on the looks of the mythical victorian creatures in their pearly attires, hoping for love to save them. Looking for the one they’re destined to be with, their video soon assumes a seductive and alluring stance and the septet is paired with women dressed in red for the dance routine.
Despite posing as the bloodthirsty creatures themselves, their song lyrics often suggest otherwise due to the repeated requests made to their beloved, whom they want invite to leave a mark of their love on them. While the beloved in question remains nameless and isn’t granted a particular identity, the requests seemed to have also been extended to the listeners and the group’s fanbase known as ENGENE.
Making for an addictive addition to their discography, the latest track heading the new comeback also generally maps out the story of a young boy who’s to be reunited with his lover as he soon realises that they’re fated to be together and connected by blood. Moreover, by introducing women as dance partners for the septet, the Bite Me MV allows the HYBE Labels group to chart out a new chapter as K-pop videos are usually restricted to the group members being featured in them or bringing on merely backup dancers. However, this rather charming and engaging step has made room for the video’s storyline to be carried forward as well while simultaneously showcasing a charismatic choreography.
