Writing numbers in expanded form is a great way to practice place value, and here scholars do this with numbers up to six digits. There are two examples to demonstrate the process, and scholars complete four distinct sections to keep them engaged. First, they determine the value of a specific digit in nine different numbers based on its placement, repeating this for nine more numbers and a different digit. Next, they circle all numbers from a set with sevens valuing 70,000. Finally, scholars write out five numbers in expanded form, all of which are four digits or more.
