How do you ensure that your benefits tracking dashboard is user-friendly, accurate, and up-to-date?

I've created benefits dashboards that are based on Power BI and Excel. Vendor reports are compiled into a a spreadsheet that's meaningful to me and then converted to PowerBI to help observe trends, costs, utilization, etc. of each offering. I'm not sure if SMART truly applies here!

Next, regularly review and verify the data inputted into the dashboard to ensure accuracy. This may involve cross-referencing information with other sources, conducting audits, and resolving any discrepancies promptly. Additionally, establish processes for updating the dashboard regularly with the latest information, such as new benefit offerings, changes in eligibility criteria, or updates to employee information. Communicate any changes or updates to relevant stakeholders promptly to keep everyone informed. Gather feedback from users regularly to identify any usability issues or areas for improvement.

At USI, we know that picking the right metrics is key to making a useful benefits tracking dashboard. It's important to choose metrics that are clear, measurable, and tied to your goals. These should be specific and realistic, helping you see real progress over time. Make sure the metrics match your benefits plan, so everything stays consistent. Don’t use too many or overly complicated metrics—they can make things confusing. By focusing on the most important numbers, you’ll keep your dashboard simple and easy to understand, helping everyone make better decisions.

The dashboard template is quantitative mostly and diagrams and charts. There can be comparisons between 2 years or more to observe changes with the usual formatting of charts

A quarterly cadence is set to update dashboards in my opinion. Some data can't be accurately represented if there are two few observations so a spread of 3 months is what I would recommend. Additionally, reports need to be requested timely as well in order to update timely.

I would say such a dashboard should be HR central but also perhaps shared with some senior leaders who may see certain negative trends e.g. disability. HRBPs are also a key user. Soliciting their feedback and understanding how to make the dashboard more meaningful to them would be my suggestion.
