If your client is feeling swamped by their workload, the first step is to help them take a breath and figure out what really matters. Encourage them to list out their tasks and figure out what’s urgent, what’s important, and what’s just noise. Suggest they talk to their manager about focusing on the projects that actually help them grow or see if there’s anything they can delegate. Remind them that they don’t need to tackle everything at once—small steps toward their goals still count. Let them know it’s okay to pause, regroup, and make sure they’re moving in the right direction.

Ensure they delegate tasks that aren’t theirs to handle and direct them to the right person or team. Document their workload and deliverables, then discuss with their manager to verify priorities, ensure workload balance among the team, and potentially redistribute tasks if needed. Encourage them to seek peer-to-peer mentoring by learning from colleagues about tools and techniques that boost efficiency. This approach helps them streamline their work, focus on growth, and maintain career progression without added stress.

It’s easy to feel isolated when the pressure starts mounting. Start by letting your client know you understand how heavy things must feel right now. You could say something like, “I can imagine how overwhelming it must be to juggle all of this while still wanting to grow in your career.” This shows them that their feelings are valid and that you're not rushing to offer a fix but truly understanding their struggle. Often, people just need to feel heard before they can even think about next steps. By acknowledging their current state, you create a space for them to open up about what’s really weighing them down, which is the first step toward helping them regain control.

If the client is feeling overwhelmed, its best to have them assess their calendar, worklaod and personal life. I need to see the overall picture of what the client is dealing with. Once, I have assessed a response and solution, the first step is to bring them back to an area of homeostasis in the mind, bring them back to a relaxed state - almost like a therapy session. Speaking life into them instead of telling them everything they need to do! I send out care kits when my clients are too stressed (including all of their favorite snacks) and take over any tasks I was to have them complete for the day (i.e. engagement on LinkedIn, responses to recruiters, etc). When they come back rejuvenated, I then communicate effectively the resolve!
