Compliance with new rules and regulations never has been easier.

If you use Google services to track the online behavior of users in the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA), it is imperative to integrate Google Consent Mode v2 by March 6, 2024. What if I fail to comply? Failure to meet this deadline could result in the loss of access to vital ad data and personalized ad experiences for EEA users. Additionally, non-compliance may restrict your use of Google Ads and other tools in the region, potentially leading to penalties. How can I ensure easy compliance? We've updated our Cookie Consent extension (u.amasty.com/7zw) to facilitate easy compliance for our customers. It is now fully compatible with Google Consent Mode v2! The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has announced its preliminary finding that Google may have broken competition law by using its dominant position to favour its own ad tech services in open-display advertising. According to the CMA, Google’s anti-competitive practices in display ad tech may be harming UK publishers and advertisers by preventing them from getting a fair deal when buying and selling advertising space, as well as suppressing any potential competitors by manipulating online ad-bidding marketplaces. Google now has the opportunity to respond to these preliminary views before the CMA takes a final decision, which is expected between April and December 2025.

Implementing consent mode in the basic version prevents tags from loading until the user interacts with a consent banner. This setup transmits no data to Google before user interaction with the consent banner. When the user grants consent, Google tags load and execute the consent mode APIs. GCLIDs are generated and assigned when a user clicks on an ad. Sometimes the GCLID is created at the time of an impression, rather than a click. In those cases, if a user clicks the same ad again, the same GCLID will be used. it is a privacy-safe ping that will have no GCLID in the URL if the data is redacted. #ppc #digitalmarketing #googleads #conversiontracking
