Biodegradable material-PLA
Since the 1960s, environmental pollution and ecological damage have become increasingly serious in the world, and environmental problems and environmental protection have gradually attracted the attention of the international community. Countries all over the world take various measures to improve environmental problems to ensure the survival and continuation of human beings. In this case, new technologies and materials are constantly emerging. As a traditional packaging industry, blister has been facing a huge crisis due to material problems. In order to shoulder the social responsibility and deal with the industry crisis, a new type of environmental protection material, PLA (polylactic acid), came into being.
Poly lactic acid(PLA), also known as polylactide, is a aliphatic polyester. It is a kind of polymer formed by dehydration and condensation of lactic acid, the fermentation substance of microorganisms, and is a typical synthetic and completely biodegradable material (polymer formed by lactic acid).
The production process of polylactic acid is pollution-free. The starch raw materials extracted from renewable plant resources (such as corn) are fermented into lactic acid, and then converted into polylactic acid through polymer synthesis. Circulation, so it is an ideal green polymer material.
The PLA has the following advantages:
1. Excellent biodegradability. 2. It is widely used to manufacture all kinds of products. 3. Suitable for all kinds of processing methods. 4. Good compatibility and degradability. 5. Good ductility
However, PLA has obvious disadvantages
1. High brittleness. 2. Low hot deformation temperature. 3. Hot cutting process is needed. 4. expensive. 5. The storage condition is high.
These shortcomings greatly affect the application range of PLA. At present, the PLA is mostly used in the food field, such as disposable lunch boxes, disposable cups, straws and so on. For toys, cosmetics and electronic product packaging with relatively complex structure and relatively high requirements, PLA material can not be promoted and used for the time being.
In order to meet the needs of different customers, in view of the shortcomings of PLA, modified PLA was introduced.
The main component of modified PLA is PLA+PBS. PBS the source of its synthetic raw materials can be either petroleum resources or fermentation of biological resources. PBS is the leader among biodegradable plastic materials.
Compared with PLA, the toughness and temperature resistance of PBS are better than PLA, but the hardness and transparency of PBS are not as good as PLA.
The combination of the two can improve the performance of the material to meet the needs.
