First-Class Honours

First-Class Honours

Proud to announce that I have graduated from the University of Salford with a First-Class Honours.

This is such a big achievement for me, mainly for two reasons. Firstly, because with English not being my first language, I always felt slightly disadvantaged and often had the fear of not being able to understand things that others might. Secondly, because I never thought of myself as someone clever or good in education and had to think twice whether to undertake a Law Degree in the first place, nevertheless I decided to follow my passion, put in the work and chose faith over fear, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I had amazing people around me who always believed in me: my family, who has believed in me from day one; my grandmother, who has sadly passed away who told me I would become a lawyer one day, even if I was just a child at the time and did not understand what she meant; my closest friends, who were already calling me “first-class girl” throughout my university journey and most importantly God, who gave me the opportunity to discover my passion and gave me strength and hope throughout this beautiful, though sometimes stressful, journey, I would not even be where I am now without God.

I also want to take the opportunity to remind someone out there to ALWAYS CHOOSE FAITH OVER FEAR. The same energy you use to worry is the same energy you can use to believe in yourself and follow your passion, your goal. If I did it, you can do it too.

One more thing, remember that “A candle loses nothing by lighting another cancel” (-James Keller). Throughout my University journey, especially during my final year, a couple of my classmates (I usually did not talk with) would usually text me and ask for assistance, notes, help and guidance regarding assignments or things that they were struggling to understand and I always decided to help, even if it did take some of my time that I could have, perhaps, used to do something else, and this because I know how it feels to feel lost.

We are not in this journey alone and I truly believe that by helping others we are being helped. I believe doing this repaid me with good karma.

On that note, I would like to encourage each one of us to not turn their back on their neighbour, if you can help then why not? As they say, “When you can bless someone else while you are going through your own storm, you have done love”, and I believe we need more of this in this world.

I am so excited for the next stage of my life and cannot wait to see what the future will bring.
