House goes up in flames after fire starts in kitchen

A house went up in flames after a fire started in the kitchen.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue were called to Linacre Lane in Bootle at around 5.55am today, Monday, January 22 and were on scene at 6.01am. A spokesperson for the fire service said a blaze was in the kitchen of the terraced house.
Five people had also left the house by the time firefighters arrived at the scene. Photos of the scene show smoke damage on the ground floor and upstairs. Black soot also covered the front door.

When the ECHO arrived at the scene at around 7.15am, one fire engine remained at the scene. A fire investigator officer was also carrying out enquiries.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue said: "Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended an incident on Linacre Lane, Bootle this morning. Crews were alerted at 5.55am and on scene at 6.01am, with two fire engines in attendance.
"This was a fire in the kitchen of a two storey house. On arrival, four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were committed, using two high pressure hose reel jets to fight the fire. Five occupants were out of the property prior to fire service attendance.
"Crews extinguished the fire shortly after and utilities were isolated. Firefighters continued to dampen down and used electric fans to ventilate the premises. Crews checked adjacent properties and carried out home fire safety checks before leaving the scene at 8.41am."
